I forgot about the Kalenz portrait. (Actually, all the image links in the Kalenz portrait thread seem to be broken, and the sword doesn't actually appear in the in-game portrait, but even so...).turin wrote:Irrevenant: We already have an image of an Elvish sword, in Kalenz's portrait. It looks nothing like this. And I don't think this looks that elvish anyway...
Hmm, it does look a bit like the Deathblade sword now you mention it. I might have a go at that...turin wrote:However, what you have looks very much like the Deathblade's weapon to me. Maybe it could be modified into an undead sword (which would be used only for the deathblade, but...)

Seems like only high-level elves use a curve backsword (one edge). I think that someting like this shape:
without the hand protection should be a very good approximation, a handle for two hands and like 1m long. Sorry if the image is too big.

I thought this was finished, so I posted it here. It wasn't, so it's back here now.
My two (*EDIT* three) versions:
My two (*EDIT* three) versions:
I was going for a blade that looked old and rusty, poorly maintained and smeared with blood. I'm sorry, but both your versions seem too shiny and new to me. Also the right side of the blade appears to be in two segments?Leonhard wrote:Hi irrevenant! I like your sword, but took the freedom to have a go at it, enhancing outlines and so... Two versions, since I can't figure out which one I prefer.

I think the best possible version of this would use your second image with the shading of Leonhard's first image; this is to make the outline clearer. Keep all your details but lighten the edges as he has.irrevenant wrote: My two versions:

Olaf, I don´t understand what you wanted to show with this image.
Do you think I should remove the shining? I wanted to have a very bright blade, but with the white it will look as it should.
Yeah, and the holy sign...I already updated it once, but it seems to be still not enough visible.

First read, then think. Read again, think again. And then post!

Regarding the blades with holes in them...
To me, those blade designs look Klingon, or maybe Romulan, although they do not look like any _particular_ Klingon or Romulan weapon. They just seem to have that general feel to them. Maybe that's just me, but FWIW that's what they make me think of.turin wrote:And I don't think this looks that elvish anyway...
However, what you have looks very much like the Deathblade's weapon to me. ;) Maybe it could be modified into an undead sword (which would be used only for the deathblade, but...)
hi toms
tried to rework yours
attached xcf image with layers, so you can edit it easier.
no comment to my sword
means that it is perfect?

Yeah, OlaF's version is better, mostly because he outlined the holy symbol, and got rid of those white lines I really never liked them.0laF wrote:hi toms

but there is something wrong with the handle, that black line, which is supposed to be the edge, is a bit off (especially at the right edge of the hilt) and looks too stark compared to the rest of the hilt.
I'm only sorry that I don't know how to fix that (mainly because I might not have time to experiment, so I won't yet)
