found the game in the net: played it for hours (and still playing it).
showed it to my kids: they still play and always want the newest version (they know most units stats... like they knew all the pokemons).
showed it to my friends: lots of ’em like and play it (the ’over 30’ fraction).
kids showed it to their friends: guess what happend... (the ’under 15’ fraction).

enough said, you know what it’s like ;)

It's been fantastic watching this come together. Talented programmers, artists, musicians, campaign/story developers - Wesnoth is a really special example of how open source can accomplish great things. Thanks to Dave and all the others who have worked hard to create this game!

Poop, I wish I -had- made a new title picture for it; so that I could act even more vain about being so important to this project ;(

Congratulations :!:

And many thanks for all the work everybody put into it. @)-`-,---

... and you know what? Apart from frozen-bubble, Battle for Wesnoth has been the only game that ever made me come back and play some more even after the first few weeks :D

Considering the large number of OSS games that get started but never really get off the ground, I think it's a major testament to the vision, teamwork, coordination, and commitment of everyone involved that you've made it this far. Thank you for a truly great strategy game.

Congratulations!! I'm just updating my system to BfW 1.0 - feels good (even if I noticed two days late )

I guess that makes Wesnoth a Libra, which means it's one of the better balanced strategy games out there  :!:

Although this is my first post, I have been playing the game and lurking in these forums off and on for about a year.

I was hesitant at first to try a turned based strategy game as I didn't think the genre would appeal to me. Not only was I pleasantly surprised at being wrong about that, I was also impressed with Wesnoth itself. The game proved to be a polished, professional, well rounded product with excellent gameplay and story.

So, without making this sound like too much of a review, congratulations to the entire Wesnoth team on reaching that most elusive of goals in many OSS projects: a version 1.0! And thank you for providing all of us with such a wonderful game.
