MacOSX binary is now up:
http://www.wesnoth.org/files/Wesnoth_MacOSX_0.7.8.dmg
Good luck with the downloading
Also included is the 0.7 of the scenario editor. This includes a fix to the unit sides when placed on the map... there was a silly error meaning all units were being placed as side 1 Also the fix to non-7bit Ascii characters in filenames and a non-functional preview of the event editor are there.

Thanks a lot .7.8 downloading fine in Safari as did .7.6 it was only that pesky .7.7 which didn't want to download in 10.3Sithrandel wrote:MacOSX binary is now up:

./configure problem
I tried to install 0.7.8 on a Mandrake 10 community.
The configure stops because it does not find SDL.
SDL is duly installed, though. 0.7.6 worked fine...
Then the configure script told me to send a mail to the address mentioned in ./configure --version. But there is no such address when you run ./configure --version

Re: ./configure problem
Strange, since checks SDL has not changed since 0.7.6. Do you have sdl-config program installed? Is it in reachable through your PATH?rnd227 wrote:

I'll solve this. Thank for the reportrnd227 wrote: Then the configure script told me to send a mail to the address mentioned in ./configure --version. But there is no such address when you run ./configure --version

rnd227 Mandrake has new Wesnoth RPMS in the Cooker / Contrib. They are never more than a day (or two) out from official. Try a fresh Mandrake mirror, it should be in the devel tree. Or you could just point the Mandrake Install-a-ma-gigger at a cooker/contrib. . .

I've found a bug. It seems that when you kill a unit, it still gets experience and may try to level. When killing a Troll Whelp, I got the following message:
Game Error something-or-other: Could not find the unit being upgraded to:Troll.

It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.
The AI grouping seems to me to have seriously upped the difficulty level (combined with the saurian skirmishers on HttT scenario 3 makes it tought not to keep units alive, and changes the dynamics of the scenario dramatically from previous version).
Is it possible to define the grouping on or off by scenario (or even by leader/side in a scenario) - to me it makes sense for opponents who are supposed to be organised (like human/dwarven armies), less sense for more rabble or less sentient groups (like monster and undead) and might depend on the quality of leadership opposite in the case of the Orcs...
I'll play some more over the weekend and report - but it has certainly upped the lethality of the game and that is likely to make it harder as the campaign progresses (I no longer feel like playing on Hard...).

Can you consistently reproduce this bug? I can't reproduce it at all.Elvish Pillager wrote:I've found a bug. It seems that when you kill a unit, it still gets experience and may try to level. When killing a Troll Whelp, I got the following message:
