Re: Portraits for demon campaign

Post by Redeth »

The devil prince is not bad at all! The girl has some serious issues, though (ok, I don't know about the girl, but the *portrait* of the girl does).

Main problems: the features of her face are misaligned, her neck is way too long and her shoulders too wide (especially for a female, I mean, not even Gabriela Sabatini has that kind of shoulders).

Here, a few brutal hacks only intended to show what I mean.

  • Shoulders, neck, and chin still look masculine.
  • Arms need work.
  • Staff is in an awkward position.
  • Ear is too high up.
  • Eyes are spaced far apart.
  • Folds in clothing?
  • etc.

Can you point out a little more in detail what's with the arms? Thanks.

Well... fold your arms like that in front of a mirror. They shouldn't be that thin, for starters.

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried to make most of those adjustments to my best current abilities. The eyes remain the distance apart kind of as a distinct facial feature to identify with her child version of portrait, there are ppl with eyes slightly further apart than normal, as there are ppl the other way around too. Anyhow I'm going to stop adjusting the female picture just cuz it grows a little old after revising it many times, but I'll still gladly take suggestions on it in order to make future portraits look better.

girl picture is supposed to be younger version of female picture. She's supposed to look depressed or pissed off or something like that. Something was wrong with the scanner... made it look all weird.

edit: looks like I have to revise female picture once again, hands.

Ty. Suggestions are still welcome and appreciated, I'd love to learn more and get better. Well, suggestions don't have to be restricted to the ones I've already drawn, I'm willing to listen to what you want to see for the ones I haven't done yet too.

I've been wondering about the size and dimention requirements of portraits and "scenes", the bigger pictures.

, and if no objections I'm going to go ahead color the old ones and refine the lines for the new ones.

A list mostly for myself, everything that needs a portrait.

girl young /
girl grown //
father young
father old -
devil father of prince //
devil prince //
devil general /
baal /
oracle/
generic demon /
generic imp /
generic vampire -
vampire leader
vampire emperor +
op daoist
op deathknight

zealot
necromancer -
op princess... later?
powerful white priest /
witch v
elven slyph v
young hero //

+ ones sketched but not scanned. - still working on. / sketched and scanned. // lines refined. V colored.

just 5 more to go.

Hey! I didn't see this thread earlier. These are pretty good! keep it up!
I like goldfang and horse rider the best.
Sometimes their hands are too small.
