He looks stoned; all of your mages are very good though;
but could you perhaps make an united portrait thread instead to avoid flooding of the forum?

I love it. The "stoned look" works.

Stoned is good. I don't think people should be allowed to have unlimited healing, fireballs or teleportation and still look as fresh as a daisy.

Dominis Vobiscum!

His neck is a tad too long, maybe make him look older

I say:
  • *Shorter neck
    *Smaller sleeves
*Hands should be the same size
*The belt-thing is getting a bit out of control, you'd have seen it on the sprite at this size/color
*The holy symbol has a very "nailed on" look which looks strange
*He looks rather young, thin and slightly drunk or like he's not paying attention - not a good thing in battle or when having important discussions.

Et Cum Spirtu Tou, Scott.

hey GRP21 I am sure none of us mean any offense, although I notice this thread has been getting more and more negative ;) none of US seem to be making the white mage :P

Hey Grp21, I love your work - every picture you've posted is unique and is brimming with the character's personality. Perhaps that more than anything though is what's causing some of the negative feedback, as everyone has a different idea on what the persona of each unit should be. Also, the existing portraits in Wesnoth are kinda Manga style - small mouth, large eyes etc, which don't really express a lot of individuality like yours do.

I'm only a recent player of the game, but I think your work is exceptional and encourage you to keep at it. Given the progression from your early elf image to the mages, I think you're sure to hit on a style that suits Wesnoth :)

all you have to do is stop posting new threads and post all of your new portraits in this one, along with the ones in the other threads. then post a message in those threads saying they are not to be used.

thats because he has one. play EI and look at dacyn... :P

but in all seriousness, i think we're past the point were we are desperate for artwork and anything is better than nothing. we should be going for quality, which might entail rejecting some portraits even though there is not one currently for that unit.

I like it, stoned look and all. The mage should be a little older, IMO, and maybe the neck should be a little shorter, but this is great artwork.
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the drug store, but that's just peanuts to space.

I don't think this new round of threads is negative at all. This is as constructive as it gets, and grp21 appears to have the artistic talent to implement suggestions and make the result look good.
