Yeah that is true but take a look at the human general his head is smaller than the average sprites head.
So don't take it too cloose.

Of course, help is welcomed, but i haven't finished with them.
Here is the current state :
- I still need to reduce a little the size of the helms
- I'm not happy with the current fighter weapons and stance
- The archer ... still need a lot of work. I think i will give her a conic helm.

If i remember well amazons are of majority females and not very well armored, but they are very enraged in battle.

yeah shouldnt they have some skimpy leather armor on or something like that. They were supposed to be great with the bow, which would be a little difficult looking like that.

Like I said in the Imperial Era thread, I had one or two ideas for the Amazon faction:

1) Definitely have the horse archer line branch. I would suggest giving one of the branches skirmisher. It would fit with the fact that the only archeologically attested Amazons were steppe nomads. Besides, a horse archer with skirmisher ought to be a real terror! The other branch could have marksmanship, as you have already suggested.

2) Have only one line of mounted fighter, the one with the spear. I don't think the line of mounted fighters with axes would fit.

3) If there is to be a unit with leadership, make it a branch of the mounted fighter. And give her a sword as well as a spear.

What do you think?

Marauders already have one of these but i agree they wouldn't fit in with the Amazons.

Ah, I forgot that a horse scout line was also suggested. Well, then maybe there should be three cavalry lines, since the horse archer and the mounted fighter would be specialists, I don't think either should be relegated to the role of scout.

That is, the horse archer and mounted fighter would be more expensive and more effective in battle than the horse scout.

The scout would be weak in battle, but fast and cheap. It would not have branching, and would not go beyond level two. Most Amazons would rather not be scouts!

1) It fit well with their syle but i think skirmisher with high movement (typically a mounted unit has around 8 hex of movement) is a little overpowered, and even a little more when the unit has a good ranged attack. I thought about giving them 9-10 hex of movement instead

3) since the amazons used rather axes than swords and even had one special type also used as a ceremonial scepter, they should rather have an axe, not a sword.

2) in fact the axe was their main close contact weapon, one of their 3 mains weapons next to the spear/javelin and the bow, so i don't think it doesn't fit.
But since they used a lot of ranged weapons and spear, and moved a lot to avoid too much contact (like feint a retreat, fire their bow and come back when the ennemy is weakened), i believe they mainly intended to use their axes by surprise or on a already weakened enemy

Maybe the axewoman should have skirmisher, then?

Why not :
- the foot & weak bladed (axe+sword) line with skrimisher (his is what i planned to do)
- a foot archer branch with skrimisher
- and the mounted axewoman as an alternative branch from another unit (foot warrior or mounted spearman=

Well... i'm thinking:

Fighter (sword-axe) line: As basic unit, somewhat low hp. I guess this one could branch into two, the second losing skirmisher, gaining normal hp and having a strong axe attack to eliminate heavy foes.

Horse Archer: For obvious support reasons, also signature unit for the faction, fearsome archer cavalry with marksman.

Guard line: That is, spear-wielding amazon, maybe with steadfast, as they hold off enemies.

Mounted Scout: With only 2 levels, as Temuchin said. Maybe give it charge so it can present some surprises and still die easily.

Mounted Fighter: spear-wielding (both melee and ranged), branching into two, one of them with leadership, one of them as heavy cavalry with an axe, as per the original idea.

Five recuritable units, although i'm not sure if the Guard and the fighter branch could awitch places.

With the amazons being great riders i guess their cavalry should cost 1-2 gold less than common, thus making playable such a cavalry-filled faction.[/code]

This is my take on what an "amazon" faction could look like, style-wise. Note that I'd be happy to mix anything into the "amazon" faction and am not at all interested in anything historically correct. For example, I think a wyrm/wywern and a fenrir-like thing would be cool to add. And the valkyrie should cast lighting bolts.

From left to right: basic archer, basic spearfighter, shieldmaiden or whatever, pegasus rider and valkyrie. The first three are crap, the pegasus rider and valkyrie are stylistically quite close to what I have in mind. But this is still purely concept art, I'd never want to use graphics this bad.

While there's no obligation to be historically accurate, IMO it makes for a better experience if a side is at least logically consistent.
