Re: Why do people quit playing?

Playing poorly gets you into situations where you can let luck screw you over. If you play so that getting unlucky in a few places won't lose you the game, then luck won't screw you over. If you don't, and you get unlucky, it's not really luck that's hitting you, it's the fact that you played yourse...

Re: Why do people quit playing?

MP community is one of the few reasons I stick with wesnoth. It's fairly small, newbies generally leave or wisen up quick enough, and the different ways a player can go (survivals, WML-heavy stuff like High Seas, 1v1s, 2v2/3v3s, Isar games... the list can go on and on. It's fascinating.

Re: How do I counter Ghosts with Knalgans?

Thunderers and Thieves, and a poacher if you've got it, but I wouldn't get more v. undead unless there was a lot of swamp on the map.

Re: You think a faction is overpowered? Come here!

I choose random, you choose rebels. What do you recruit? I know what I'd recruit, depending on what I got. Perhaps some fire damage if you got a wose, probably less pierce-weak stuff than I would if you were northerners or drakes. Some good strong melee, and then I'd just wait it out. Rebels have lo...

EoM location

EoM's world could have had some continental drift as well (or a fallen land-bridge), there could be some water in between the two areas. I'd have the distances be somewhere along the lines of the distance between Peru and Oregon. Quite a distance, not really travelable with the technology of standar...

Perhaps a Red Mage and/or an Elvish Hero for bigger creeps?

Re: The Era of Myths: 2 years old, handing over for a while.

They're far enough apart, they won't get in each other's way, but futurized versions (UtBS-era) could utilize variations on EoM units. I think that's a good option to have.

That's the balancing reason. What's the BS that explains the resists, though?

A New Land is not A New Order

It's mainline now! It comes with wesnoth!

(unless you've got ubuntu or some other package where the campaigns come seperate, but that's still and easy download.)

Split from here.

Re: Multiplayer Competitive Era

You'll probably need to rebalance unit stats, then. Low-strike units will get a bit overpowering, while mages will probably get underpowered.

Re: The Era of Myths art project thread

IIRC one proposed story for the devlings was something like this : In their cavernous world, the devlings were giants, lords of all they saw with their beady little eyes, able to crush any bug or worm that crept their way. Wars and alliances, and intrigue abounded, and exploration of their caves was...
