Re: the Princess's revenge (strategies)

First of all, did you do a little research in the forums like I advised OP in post 2? Of course. This was one of the MORE helpful results I found. (Granted, I had not yet finished going through all of the results. I did however spend the better part of an hour going through old threads, including t...

Re: the Princess's revenge (strategies)

Here's my latest failure. Kalenz isn't the issue -- I could presumably go back and position him differently (the previous turn, perhaps) and somehow save him, at least for a couple more turns. As you can see, though, the only way I'm avoiding being triple-teamed (and thus losing experienced units) i...

Re: the Princess's revenge (strategies)

I've attached a replay that I just did of this level on Medium difficulty, although I must admit that I don't feel like I played it particularly well anyway, and wouldn't mind some advice from some other players as to how I could've played better. However, it should give an idea of one way to win i...

Re: Scenario 9: The Valley of Death

(1) What difficulty level and version of Wesnoth have you played the scenario on? I don't remember what the names are for the three settings, but I picked the one in the middle. I have version 1.8.whatevercomeswithDebianstableatthemoment. (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 10. (3) H...

Re: Mainline use of Lotr names?

Gwydion in the campaign liberty is a name I've seen before Indeed, Gwydion Lord of Don, wasn't it? However, I think he took it from a Welsh myth or something That's certainly conceivable. A lot of the setting and ideas for that series are taken from such sources, though not, to my knowledge, most o...

Re: Doing It Wrong: HTTT:TPOW, too fast, too many losses

If you get the replay working, I'd be more than happy to offer a bit of advice. I can piece together most of it from your turn by turn, but it'd be nice to see. Yeah, I'm not sure what's up with that. I'll give it another try or two, and see if I can get the attachment to actually, you know, attach...

Re: How do I get mp3 versions of the Wesnoth Playlist?

there are dozens of tools to convert ogg to mp3, there are even online-based converters: http://media-convert.com/ Converting the .ogg files themselves to .mp3 format would be an undesirable option, to my way of thinking, because Vorbis is a lossy format, and while it (typically) doesn't throw away...

Update: got it now.

Doing It Wrong: HTTT:TPOW, too fast, too many losses

Background: I hadn't played Wesnoth in entirely too long, due to allowing other things to distract me from games. So I came back and started up playing HTTT, which I've played through several times before, figuring that I ought to be able to handle that even out of practice. So here's a replay, wher...

Of all my units I least prefer mages to be quick, because it makes them even easier to kill (especialy at higher lvls) and keeping your lvled mages alive is an important thing in campains. Mages aren't good hitpoint sinks anyway, and they need so many XP to level up (especially the first time, befo...

I prefer all of my mages to be quick if possible. They just need that extra movement point if the terrain is pretty much anything other than grassland. There's not much point taking a non-quick mage into mountains, hills, caves, forests, ... most terrains. Even crossing rivers can be problematic. Ev...

The game kept my interest. However at the easy level it is too hard so not a game for beginners. If this is going mainline I think you need to make the newbie level easier otherwise new wesnoth-ers will play the game and will become demoralised. I tend to agree that this campaign is hard compared t...

Re: Help! Have I stolen something?

Of course you didn't say you were worrying about anything, but I still wouldn't recommend anyone to worry about accidentally "stealing" something. If it's not intentional, it's not stealing/plagiarism/whatever. I'm afraid copyright law and the academic world both don't see things that way...

Disclaimer: I'm using the lastest stable release of Wesnoth, and the latest version of the campaign on that campaign server, not the dev version one. 1: The storyline. Does reading up through the story in the first scenario catch your attention. If you don't feel like elabarationg, a simple yes/no w...

Re: Walkthrough for Northern Rebirth....

I manage to hold off the orcs, but with nothing but peasants, it's a little hard to throw them back. I got one upgraded to a bowman, but they die so easily, as soon as they get close to leveling up the AI snuffs them out. When I try again, I'll make sure not to release the trolls; they drew troops ...
