that doesn't seem to fit KISS, where simple resurrection isn't so bad from that perspective.

the problem with resurrection:
(player): oh, neat, this lancer just might be able to kill the enemy leader. Lets see.. (lancer dies)
(player): oh well, he'll be available in the next scenario if I need a quick fast level unit - I'll be able to finish quite fast anyway.

Too much wizardage for me there. "Attacks in locations based on absolute map coordinates"? what's the problem with that? how else could you attack? I must be missing something

" - we could use AI flags more to make the AI less aggressive about ganging up on vulnerable units on the easier levels. - we could reduce xp requirements on easier levels. " -Dave (sorry, I seem to have forgotten how to quote properly) That is exactly what should be done. Purists do not suffer, as ...

This is an interesting change, but you should note its effects on game balance. While I agree that the game is perhaps too challenging to enjoy playing 'casually' once in a while, it would not be as fun a game if it was a walk in the park.

That's exactly the sort of thing I was talking about when I said today's chess servers are inflexible. It should be possible to specify a variant using some sort of script, sort of like in Zillions of Games (a proprietary but interesting system), and have it playable within minutes. Heck, you could ...

Hmm.. you should have some sort of geometric grouping to represent groups. Imagine the following:
player numbers (in their appropriate colors) are written inside boxes to represent teams. By moving your mouse over a player number, you can see her/his name and available statistics about him/her.

Come on, just use the sample_ai. It is _very_ foolishly easy, if you can't beat it 100% of the time you need to read the manual and advanced tactics (they aren't that advanced, a lot should be added) All it does is move towards your leader mindlessly, recruiting random units, getting as many village...

Being a chess enthusiast, I can give you the following (not really a summary any more...) summary of useful information. freechess.org is a free chess server, based on a free engine (now forked into several, I believe, check it out) There are many free chess engines and two prominent communication p...

You will automatically disconnect on TCP time out, don't worry. By the time I post this, you will probably already be off the server.

Umm... by moving Konrad and Defaldor straight up, Defaldor always gets killed by the green orc leader. (Assuming that the rest of the troops are moved west). Therefore, I don't see how you could possibly be doing this on Medium/Hard. (This is on medium). Unless, of course, you mean to go east so tha...

I don't believe there is any possibility at all of a posted file infecting the forum (or forum users, unless they're stupid enough to download and use it; you mind want to reverse it or something to prevent people from doing that). The forum server should not run binaries posted, nor should it have ...

I levelled up Konrad in the Bay of Pearls - towards the end I had no gold, so I moved him up with the rest of the force. He ended up killing the enemy leader, and proved quite valuable.

By the way, you can almost always rather easily win Anduin (with conservative enough play) by simply sending a pack of horsemen with Defaldor and a couple of elves over the river, then recruiting a couple of units to defend the other flank on turn 7/8 when the enemy starts sending units north. You s...
