I can agree with Xalzar in most points. Changing the faction extensively (including changing many if not all unit sprites) is far too much work. Personally i would prefer for this not to happen. When i play a campaign i do it to play with the awesome units that i developped in the last few scenarios. Losing my units mid-campaign always feels like i am cheated on.

Honestly, it has always bugged me as well. So much that I decided to introduce "accuracy" for melee marksmen in my UMC. I have also seen this on other occasions.
So, I'm personally a fan of option 2.

Eh? The translated strings are in the v1.0.17 mo-file (can be opened with text editor like Notepad) and do show in my game… I switched to german, and it seems fully translated here as well. yeah, you could get 12hp for like 700xp or about 7-8 lvl 3 units. it's really worth it. ;)
no, really over long campaigns it might be worth AMLAing a low hp unit like a spectre, but most of tge times, no it's not worth it.

True, also I am wondering how much max hp is gained by normal AMLA? (such as the slayer)
Just the same, +3hp. AMLAs are just there in the main game so that the xp is not really wasted, but honestly it's just not worth it.

I can only agree with the guys above me. The sprites look good, i might have some use for Nightblade advancement. :) the lvl 5 stalwart might have a bit too much tc, and the alternative lvl 4 advancement doesn't fit into the unit line that much. Maybe you can adapt him to look a bit more like the ot...
