Removing a long used terrain needs a very strong reason. I don't see one here. Using the same base with the desert version having cacti is a better solution, if the sand looks good as a sea-shore. I would also like to keep it around as an alternative since jetryls desert is so heavily textured. In ...

Much improved, I like the alternative coloration and the chest armor looks way better now. Claw-hands look cool also.

Jetryl has a point about red wings though, maybe make it less saturated to make it less likely to be mistaken for team color would be good.

:( what are the problems according to you then? Mostly palette, I find it to bright and saturated. I'm also not to fond of the breastplates. If they are to be male they shouldn't have such large breasts imo :) I also think the breastplates should be one continuous piece with a more uniform form as ...

Technically better drawn than the old ones, but I'm afraid I can't get myself to like the overall style. They are way to "cartoony" and wimpy imo, especially with the much brighter coloration of the skin.

btw, are they all supposed to be female since they all seem to have breasts? :?

I have that problem too. I want to rant agaist this "developer" mentality in the free-software/ open source movement, but I will save that for my blog. The problem is probably that you need the python libraries. For some reason, developers expect users to enjoy reinstalling thier operatat...

snow transitions with grass/land (freim seems to be working on a promising snow-water transition) I can't seem to find the stuff I started on here, but it's not that much work to redo. I'm just putting snow on top of the existing ice trans. The same change will be done for snow hills<->water. I can...

The sand looks awesome, but the mountains still look very much like flat sketches rather than 3D objects like the regular mountains. Jetryl explicitly said that he hadn't done anything to the mountains other than a color shift. These mountains where drawn in a different style than the new ones, it'...

Looks good jetryl. I especially like the colors, quite funny to think of that I actually desaturated the current desert quite a lot already.

My only concern is that it's too rough for a "flat" terrain, but I will have to see the new desert hills to see if this will be a problem.

First I would like to take a step back from commenting directly on the various attempts made in this thread and ask the following: Why on earth do we want to make Wesnoths map look like it's a tabletop board game? I strongly dislike this direction. It completely breaks the game immersion for me. Wes...

I tend to also concur with Woodwizze, Shadow Master, and Irrevenant. Personally I think the best solution is to make maps specify the border. A map should give an extra row of hexes at the top and bottom and column to the right and left of the map. These hexes will be inaccessible 'half hexes'. Dav...

We shouldn't advertise if the goal is to get money with no more thought to it than that. If we have a specific need, like if we lost our free hosting and found no other suitable free hosting then we should consider advertising to fund this spesific thing. IMO, just trying to get money with no clear ...

I think they've already been "exhausted". Have you ever noticed how slow and unstable is the 1.2 campaign server? That's because the wesnoth server and the campaign server isn't scaling very well and are unstable and unreliable. To fix that you need to fix the server code, moving it to a ...

I think we shouldn't consider advertisement before exhausting all relevant options for free hosting.
