Looks nice. I agree, some small icons next to the text for gold, villages, income... would be the icing on the cake. :) The unit stats are much clearer now. Perhaps you could add "None" or a '-' character to the Traits section. Also, the Skills section is missing. What I'm not that happy ...

I made a quick concept GUI to show some ideas:

(it's quite big, around 480Kb)

It's not very consistent since I tried to show some different things in the same picture. What do you think?

I like the GIMP style UI... right click gives you menus. No mouse traveling across the screen needed to reach the menus. Everything should be available from right-click menu. - Miyo Right click menu should be context sensitive IMO, and GIMP is not a very good example of an good UI (although it's ge...

It would be nice if the story was unfolded in the "Wesnothpedia" also. If nothing more than the intro text and the scenario's intro text. With for example links to places and historical events and the like which yawningdog suggested. Edit: This might be one thing that would reset for each ...

Well as I said, it'd be stored in the user's preferences file. The implication of this is that it'd be permanently unlocked. David Missed the part about the prefs, sounds good. A usual way of doing it is that the information would be linked between the different entries, like when viewing a unit, e...

if there was an in game "Wesnothpedia" - which could be very interesting and help develop the game's background. *snip* Thoughts? David When you have played through the main campaign once would it then be unlocked permanently or would it have to be unlocked again if you play again? I thin...

More general guidelines (not all apply to wesnoth, but it might be good to think about them anyway): 1. Visibility of system status - Always keep users informed about what is going on, through providing appropriate feedback within reasonable time 2. Match between system and the real world - speak th...

Re: User Interface

-Icon-based menus instead of dialogs (for actions like recruit, recall, end turn...). I don't think you should replace text by icons in menus, unless you have easily recognizable icons (which is not easy to make). Having both however could be an idea, since it conveys more information. There are al...

High level units are already deadly, and now we are making them even deadlier... I sense uber units appearing. - Miyo How about trimming down lvl3+ a little, maybe have more incremental upgrades? Also instead of always improving on everything, a unit specializing on certain aspects of a unit type c...

Sounds interesting, and would add more depth to the game. I'm also curious about what additional TBS-game elements are being considered? for example: - More items and hero inventory where they can equip a variety of items - Cities and villages where one can interact with shops etc - Tactical combat ...

Pier graphics proposal

Hi everyone! Just want to start by saying that Battle for Wesnoth is a great game. Nice to see a open source game with such excellent graphics. While playing today I noticed that the perspective on the pier looked a little odd: http://www.stud.ntnu.no/~haskjold/temp/pier_orig.png I modified it a lit...
