You might try the Extended Era. Its the most popular user-made era in MP, adds units to existing factions, and contains several all-new factions.

There isn't the sort of era guide you are looking for anywhere, to my knowledge.

Noyga: a fletcher is one who fletches arrows - puts the feathers on them. Bonefletcher is thus an inappropriate name.

The last two posts are both fair points, even though it remains my personal preference that names in Wesnoth be both simple and a lot less obscure that Aptrgang. I do have a question, however. If the name Aptrgang is adopted, in addition to Draug, it seems the Undead of Wesnoth are being pulled firm...

The problem with names like Aptrgang (and Draug for that matter) is that they convey absolutely nothing to 99.9% of players. And no, I have no evidence for that assertion beyond the fact that they conveyed nothing to me before I looked them up as a result of this discussion, and if you draw the infe...

You know, the simplest "solution" to the Steppe Orcs might be to remove them from the Era. I think almost everything about them except the basic art needs a lot of work, and I for one don't have any great ideas about turning them into a faction interesting enough to include. Right now, we ...

I can't find the objection to the name Soul Shooter anywhere in the 5 pages of this thread. It seems we may have some overly literal-minded people here, if they are interpreting the name to mean "One who uses souls as ammunition for a bow" as opposed to "One who targets your soul"...

I wrote some Aragwaithi descriptions a while ago. I'd been meaning to write more, and post them when I did, but I might as well post the few that I've done now: Longswordsman: While Aragwaithi Swordsmen seem uncannily skilled to blade-wielders of other races, the Aragwaithi reserve their own admirat...

For me there are several reasons to play Wesnoth RPGs. One is simply novelty. Seeing what people have managed to do with the game engine that it wasn't intended to do is really fun. I am absolutely in awe of A New Land, for instance. Another factor is that after a couple hundred hard-fought 2vs2s on...

Dark Elves and Chaos both did make it in, and since that first post was written, Kalifa and Steppe Orcs have been added.

- Make gold mines give a *bit* more initial gold, somethin' like 5 or 6. They're just worthless compared to the free cash crops right now, since it takes a gold mine 25 turns to be more effective than a crop. This is just wrong. A gold mine has an initial investment, but it pays off in more than on...

Would the Hoarfrost Caster get a melee attack? If not, then it becomes the 3rd cold mage in the Era without one. If it does, then 15 gold might be too cheap. I dislike the idea of giving the Sidhe another mage, since so much was made in the background story of the idea that the Raindancers were uniq...

Clonkinator: Mytholigical did try to give the enemies random traits, but found that this caused oos errors. Since the traits therefore had to be standardized, strong/resilient was chosen - even for Undead, which normally don't get traits. Its amazing how annoying strong/resilient Vampire Bats can be...

You might want to notice that the Ghulam does not have the Charge ability, and as you have noticed now, only 6 movement. Apparenly, the Kalifa fit your style. I have some comments reagring them that I am saving for a future discussion - right now this thread has too many topics being discussed at on...

Kalis: to me, the whole point of the Aragwaithi is to be hard-hitting, but fragile. They do get some almost-tanks at level 2, so of course the challenge is living that long. They are also fairly inexpensive - consider the Swordsman: 6-4 blade damage and 20% blade resistance for 13 gold. Pretty nice....
