Re: Using copyright names and ideas in games...

Would it be ok to have a senario Middle Earth, with guys like Gandalf and Frodo (taken from a famous book) running around? Would it be ok to have a forum with guys offically called Sith (taken from copyright movie star wars) running around? You certainly can make a campaign with copyrighted materia...

Worst unit in the game: The bat. It's rather underpowered, and not really worth buying for the faction that uses it. Buying more than one is a complete waste, and buying even one is a very debatable decision. I'd welcome a rebalance of this unit. I would like to see it as a lvl 1 with swarm instead...

You guys are the artists, I am just throwing out ideas, and expressing preferences :) That is a decent base, but it is too red and needs a lot more detail.

May I suggest lancers and horsemen as a perfect application of this? What better way of indicating that they can't actually hold ground, but can only take it? First off WINR. Second, it depends on what you think is going on in a battle exactly. A horseman isn't helpless on a plain just ebcause a sp...

That is a good idea. I suggest you talk to one of the magical code fairies who implement such things. :) It seriously is a good idea.

Landscape Art for Campaigns

It seems to me that so much of the current campaign art is really portrait focused, and most of the non-sprite art I see on the forums as well. Perhaps this is just betraying my general aesthetic preferences, but I feel like in several places in the campaigns the places themselves could be more the ...

Normal ulf vs normal adept IIRC. The problem the ulf gets 120 swings and needs to miss on 111-116 of them. The chance of that many misses on any terrain is amazingly low. calculate it yourself.

I think it is definitely the trickiest 1v1, and the cheap fast units with orcs are nice there. I know the first few times I played there the winner was basically random. But now I feel as though I understand it a bit better.

Large stretches of sand are very hard on non drakes.

Mountains next to villages make those villages very easy to capture as dwarves.

Cave is very hard to move in for most units.

I once did the math of an adept surviving a zerker, if someone had been trying it since the start of the universe it still probably wouldn't have happened.

Just do the best you can to finish is promptly as possible. That is all that really matters at this point. Remember it is typically 3 or 4 matches anyway, it doesn't often go to 5.

In Duluth and in St. Paul although not very high. Duluth is built on a 700ft hill I lived halfway up (Lots of, say 25% streets). And the Mississippi River Valley has 500ft or so bluffs on my side where I live (Lots of say, 15% streets). But no it is not the same as biking in the Mtns. Duluth has ste...

As you mentioned LSN (Laser Squad Nemesis) does this very well. I played the crap out of that game right before I started Wesnoth. In fact my first 3 months free of online play that ended from buying the game is what prompted me to look for somethign else.
