Re: Versioned server protocol

I double-checked the configuration for the official server and the alternate server (server2) just to make sure. Both support all past, present and future 1.14.x releases. Were you actually trying to play on those servers (Multiplayer → Join Official Server and Connect to Server, respectively) or we...

Re: Players are not interested in competitive?

I can't say that unofficial ladder is bad but I also can't say that it's good, it's better than nothing. I often see new people that just got into mp and they look for ladder instantly, this is not something uncommon, but then good half of them drops out when they hear that they need to register on...

Re: Players are not interested in competitive?

I'm not 100% sure what competitive system you have in mind but if there was just button that created game in lobby instead of putting you in queque then people just wouldn't play with cheaters, both sides know with who they play and they can choose if they want to play with person who created / joi...

Re: Players are not interested in competitive?

I've been giving this issue some thought as of late, actually. The primary problem I see with implementing competitive into the game is the same as always: the potential for cheating to manipulate stats and make matchmaking unfair. Currently the game isn't designed in a way that could prevent you fr...

Re: What mainline campaigns are high quality?

It's not necessary to play the campaigns to vote or comment. (There's no way of checking after all) Yet I feel it's a bit unfair for me to mark UtBS and TRoW while not having ever played SotA or most of DW, SotBE, DM and LoW, or the 1.14 versions of DiD and TSG for that matter. This kind of thing u...

Re: Git branch cleanup

Remember, deletion just removes them from view. The commits making up the branch will still be there and findable in the reflog. So the brand can be resurrected if it should not have been deleted. You're assuming that the commits won't be automatically cleaned up by GitHub once they're found to be ...

Re: Where is a good place to report/discuss possible security issues?

We don't have a specific medium for this kind of issue at the moment, but you are welcome to message the project manager (currently Vultraz) about it if it affects the game, or a Wesnoth.org staff member if it affects the website.

You can edit or create a new shortcut for wesnoth.exe with additional options like so: "C:\Users\YourUsername\Dropbox\Wesnoth 1.14\wesnoth.exe" --userdata-dir .\userdata --userconfig-dir .\userdata The quotes surrounding the full path to wesnoth.exe are not optional if there are spaces in any folder...

Re: Cities of the Frontier - now for BfW 1.11

I sent a PM to enclave asking to maintain this project, I also posted a message to the admins asking to delete enclave's port from the server so I can upload my version with the fixes. I didn't get a reply from either party, so I forked this project instead with the fixes. We get a lot of people ac...
