I haven't inspected the new Rogue sprites yet, which I definitely should. I will do a in-depth analyse of that at some later point. I could always go back and give the female fencer a much more distinguishable hairstyle then the rughish hairstyle of the male one - if thats what this unit line needs.

yes, the portraits will be playing a big role in this. but i don't want to try convincing a umc artist doing such portraits without me delivering the female sprites to this unit line first.

doofus-01 wrote: November 24th, 2018, 1:09 pm I'm not sure that replacing the scarf (or whatever it is) with boobs is the best way to pull it off. I'd suggest looking to the Rogue Male/Female sprites as a model, they are (relatively) new sprites and the unit type plays a similar role.

As it appears that, except of the hairstyle, the only changes are the male scarf become female boobs+accesior for the mainline rogue units.
So as a consequence, the one thing left for improvement is considering a completely new hairstyle.

The female fencer's boobs look quite a bit more pronounced than the thief's, though.

In fact, her chest isn't believable. I'm sure that a fencer with breasts that size would have to strap them down in some way in order to move properly, so you wouldn't see them like that.

Considering your both lasts comment, I think the right approach is to really change hairstyle and make that her dominant female characteristic and reduce the breast size.

here is the new hairstyle, which also takes away the focus from the breasts.

Yep. The hair looks great :)

Maybe lighten up the shading around the boobs a bit? Clothing tends not to be snug in the middle and on the bottom in RL.

Thanks for pointing it out. It might be taking away the focus from the breasts too, which would be a good thing.

Also I am planning a different stance for the female variant, but that has to be done in the idle-animation

That is a good idea. I don't think a major shift is needed but a slightly different stance would help differentiate them more.

Personally, I think a ponytail would work better for a female fencer if you want long hair.

That's a good idea, and also it would go flying around as much during the attack animation that way so it might be easier to draw.

The shape of the ponytail is good, but the rest of her hair should not look like it is hanging down any more. The locks of hair need to point back towards the ponytail.
