I have not any better idea then to give you the save of your game a turn later. It work well for me.

That is strange to say that but it is a good new to know ydcl is not alone, what error message do you get?

error message at the end of first round after the Dialogue between Aleva and Karos

Weird, I get the same error if I use another OS and thus download the campaign, but the code is exactly the same in both v 0.3.8(the actual release) and v 0.4.0(the next planned release) I double checked.
{MODIFY_UNIT (id=Karos) side 5}
{MODIFY_UNIT (id=Karos) ai_special guardian}
{FLOATING_TEXT x,y=$KarosStore.x,$KarosStore.y 0,0,255 "Karos Leaves Army"}
EDIT:I do not know why its crash (although I have an idea) but you just have to move Aleva to prevent the game to crash.

1.I wasn't abble to fix the bug but the objectives windows will tell you how to avoid it.
2.In the same scenario, the death of Karos display an alternative dialog before defeat instead display a cutscene like it was intended to do in the code.

post your code into a thread in the wml workshop and post the error codeand maybe someone will help you fix the bug

There isn't any major reason it doesn't work, as 1.7 is the beta of 1.8. By the way, most of the 1.5 aka 1.6 beta campaign are compatible with 1.6.
