Post by governor »

(1) What difficulty levels and what version of Wesnoth have you played the scenario on?
Mediaum and Hard 1.5.6
(2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10)
5
(3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives?
Clear
(4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scenario?
Interesting
(5) What were your major challenges in meeting the objectives of the scenario?
None.
(6) How fun do you think the scenario is? (1-10)
6
(7) What, if any, are changes you would have made to the scenario to make it more fun?
Make saurians weak to arcane. :P
(8) Was there any event that caused you to lose the game and forced you to reload or restart the scenario?
First time I grabbed the treasury I was surprised by the units that spawned. However, I quickly dispatched them and was disappointed to have the scenario end on that same turn with more than 15 enemy units still available to kill.
(9) If you know a bit of the Wesnoth Markup Language - do you think that the WML of this scenario is clear and well commented? If not which part would you like to be documented better?

(1) What difficulty levels and what version of Wesnoth have you played the scenario on?
Medium, 1.5.8.
(2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10)
3, but the bottom leader moved out too far and without backup. So I was able to use the shyde to slow him. This meant that he only recruited for two rounds. This made the scenario a bit easy. Even so, with vuln to blade the saurians are getting chopped to pieces by my fighters.
(3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives?
Clear.
(4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scenario?
Clear.
(5) What were your major challenges in meeting the objectives of the scenario?
None this time around. The first time around I got into trouble since you start with a reasonable force of loyal units. Using this to agressivly though and you run into difficulty since you have no units to sacrifice.
(6) How fun do you think the scenario is? (1-10)
6
(7) What, if any, are changes you would have made to the scenario to make it more fun?
Up the level of the saurian bosses. Maybe design a line fighter with staying power to add to the saurian race.
(8) Was there any event that caused you to lose the game and forced you to reload or restart the scenario?
None

(2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10)
7, Decidedly a struggle.
(3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives?
Clear.
(4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scenario?
Clear.
(5) What were your major challenges in meeting the objectives of the scenario?
Overextension.
(6) How fun do you think the scenario is? (1-10)
8 Fast paced and challenging.
(7) What, if any, are changes you would have made to the scenario to make it more fun?
Up the level of the saurian bosses. Maybe design a line fighter with staying power to add to the saurian race.
(8) Was there any event that caused you to lose the game and forced you to reload or restart the scenario?
Yes, I started out too agressive to deal with the bottom boss and found myself unable to deal with the green forces.
santi wrote:The challenge of the scenario is to win quickly before the rest of the Saurians catch up with you and you face loses, particularly to important(must not die or loyal) units. So the point is to blitz instead of following standard anti-saurian tactics (holding the line and protecting the wounded).
Green will reach you in turn 5 or 6. I find it very difficult to weaken blue fast enough to be ready for this. It's much easier to hold back and face the combined forces since you get favorable terrain and TOD that way.

(1) What difficulty levels and what version of Wesnoth have you played the scenario on?
normal, 1.6 (german)
(2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10)
5
(3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives?
Not very clear since one objective is to kill all enemy leaders. It wasn't until I reached the treasury that I fully understood the primary objective, which demands a completely different approach (with less casuallties).
(4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scenario?
Pretty clear, though I find the cut scenes a bit short. Furthermore, the German translation has a few minor mistakes (but is perfectly understandable). "Old speak" and "new speak" are mixed up badly sometimes and the translator(s) tend to pick words that don't fit in too well (but it's far away from making my ears bleed).
(5) What were your major challenges in meeting the objectives of the scenario?
I prepared to face the green force and fought blue at the same time which resulted in many losses of my loyal/experienced units.
(6) How fun do you think the scenario is? (1-10)
6 (7 with clear objectives)
(7) What, if any, are changes you would have made to the scenario to make it more fun?
Make clear that reaching the treasury is priority number one or dont even mention that killing all enemy leaders is an objective.
If you open your mind too much, your brain will fall out.

(1) What difficulty levels and what version of Wesnoth have you played the scenario on?
Medium, 1.6.1

(2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10)
5

(3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives?
10 - Very clear. Kill all the enemies.

(4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scenario?
Interesting.

(5) What were your major challenges in meeting the objectives of the scenario?
Time and Gold. I have only 100g for starters and I have to finish what I have to do before turn 5 (that's when the reinforcement from the north arrives).

(6) How fun do you think the scenario is? (1-10)
10 - Especially the change in the objective after I stepped in the treasury.

(7) What, if any, are changes you would have made to the scenario to make it more fun?
Maybe give a hint through the dialog, e.g. Kalenz giving orders to his men to do a blitzkrieg before reinforcement arrives. I tried the usual hold-the-line, observe TOD and got swarmed by turn 6. :-( or maybe it's just me.

(8) Was there any event that caused you to lose the game and forced you to reload or restart the scenario?
Fast moving Saurians from the North. I'm not finished with the blue leader yet and they are already swarming my army.

(9) If you know a bit of the Wesnoth Markup Language - do you think that the WML of this scenario is clear and well commented? If not which part would you like to be documented better?

(1) What difficulty levels and what version of Wesnoth have you played the scenario on?

easy 1.6; hard 1.6.2

(2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10)

10. Playing on hard, with minimum gold, this was the hardest scenario of the campaign.

(3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives?

The first time through, it's not terribly clear what "leave with all the gold means".

(4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scenario?

(5) What were your major challenges in meeting the objectives of the scenario?

Finding a workable plan (build a fortress against the Southern edge of the map).
Recalling the right troops to make this plan work.

It took me 5 attempts - and a bit of luck - to get it right.

(6) How fun do you think the scenario is? (1-10)

8

(7) What, if any, are changes you would have made to the scenario to make it more fun?

20 gold extra (one recall) would have made a lot of difference. For that, I would do without
the loyal elvish scout.

(8) Was there any event that caused you to lose the game and forced you to reload or restart the scenario?

The first three times I tried this scenario, I went straight for the treasury but got skewered before I could wipe out all the guards. The fourth time, I built a fortress but discovered that sorceresses don't have enough hit points to make it work.
Don't axe a little. Axe a lottle.

(1) What difficulty levels and what version of Wesnoth have you played the scenario on?

hard 1.6.5

(2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10)

10. Playing on hard, with minimum gold, this was the hardest scenario of the campaign (so far).

(3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives?

The first time through, it's not terribly clear what "leave with all the gold means".

(4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scenario?

Saurians are talking about reenforcements - which is supposed to be green, I guess?

(5) What were your major challenges in meeting the objectives of the scenario?

First time playing it, i tried killing green and blue which cannot be done without major losses of experienced units. I tried building a fortress on the southern edge of the map but it didnt work properly because it took me too much time to kill all saurians. By the time i realized i only had to kill 5 units scenario turned out to be very easy - green didn't attack once.

(6) How fun do you think the scenario is? (1-10)

10

(7) What, if any, are changes you would have made to the scenario to make it more fun?

Add a note to the treasure and to objectives. Maybe erase "defeat all enemy leaders" so players will focus on the treasure.

(8) Was there any event that caused you to lose the game and forced you to reload or restart the scenario?
