I'm wondering how you can look at the new drakes and say that...
I'm talking about strictly sci-fi games and drakes simply don't fit that picture. I'm not criticizing the art in BfW since it is a more medieval styled game and was intentionally created with 2D graphics. The drakes are as 3D as you can get in 2D games though.

Elvish_Hunter wrote:Just some hours before that the 1.7 server was shut down, I managed to archive a copy of the campaign. Now I found this backup and I'm uploading it here because I noticed that it has some different features than the one that you uploaded on 1.8 server. The changelog says:

Code: Select all

1.3.2: Finished Omega's Tale, among other things.
1.3.3: Fixed all glitches with the campaign, and added to the 1.7 addons server.
1.3.4: Fixed error in scenario 3 of Omega's Tale, and also began SpecOps: The Beginning of the End.
I removed music, images and sounds folders due to maximum upload size (anyway, the music tracks are the same that you already have). I hope that this will be useful.

...wow

Wish I had gotten this sooner. Saved my arse, and look! It even has the nuke coding A Guy made for me!

Thanks, Elvish, this helps a lot.

Glad to have been of service. I also checked the content of the three folders that I removed. I can confirm that music and sounds folders are identical to the two now on the 1.8 server. But the images folder of 1.7 version contains 480 files in 9 folders, while the one now on the server contains only 461 in 8 folders. So, I zipped and I'm uploading the images folder here. Due to max upload size again, I removed the images/terrain folder and I'm attaching it as a separate zip.

Hate to be a killjoy, but this is what it's doing for me. (I've tried downloading it over again several times to make sure it's not just a weirdness.)
The following add-on had errors and could not be loaded:
C:/Documents and Settings/you don't need to know/My Games/Wesnoth1.8/data/add-ons/The_War_of_Terrador/_main.cfg
ERROR DETAILS:
Missing closing tag event at ~add-ons/The_War_of_Terrador/scenarios/2_The_Second_Mssion.cfg:69 included from ~add-ons/The_War_of_Terrador/_main.cfg:60, value " at ~add-ons/The_War_of_Terrador/scenarios/2_The_Second_Mssion.cfg:72 included from ~add-ons/The_War_of_Terrador/main.cfg60
I did some poking around in the cfg file for the scenario in question to try and find the problem myself, but I drew a blank.

After that, it spits out and "Unknown scenario" for the first one in the campaign, and crashes.

The problem is the 4p_New_moon Archive in the scenarios folder. (Vista is C:/Program Files (x86)/Battle For Wesnoth/userdata/data/add-ons/The-War_of_Terrador/scenarios) Delete that and you will be fine. I do not want to put out an entire new release for something that can be fixed easily.

Is the Heavy Weapons Specialist suppose to have a pierce resistance of -50% while the Grenadier has one of +50%? If not, the problem is in Terrador_Heavy_Weapons_Expert.cfg
with the lines
[resistance]
pierce=150
[/resistance]

*sigh* I wish peeps would read the forum posts...

Simply go into the Wesnoth userdata directory, go into the TWOT folder, and then the folder labled scenarios, and delete the 4p_New_Moon scenario. That was a bug I made myself while testing the Multiplayer maps capability and do not want to release an entire new release to fix 1 problem when so many new things are due to be coming soon.

So. I am a total wesnoth noob here, but as a science fiction fan, I'd love to play your campaign. I'm trying to delete the 4pnewmoon file your talking about, but I'm having trouble finding the user data directory. I have a mac, I open up the resources file etc (trying to follow the directions on the wiki), but I can't find any of the add-on campaign files to be modified (only the official campaigns.) Can somebody tell me where to find this file on a mac?

The Add-ons are installed in the different directory from the mainline campaigns. They are in:
"User-->Your User Name-->Library-->Application Support-->Wesnoth_1.8-->data-->add-ons" on Mac.

Then, You can find "4p_New_Moon.cfg" in:
The_War_of_Terrador-->scenarios.

New version is on the 1.8 addon server for those of you that needed help with the campaign fix. Nothing "super" new though. Be patient. :P

Omega's Tale, Protect The Food. I cannot beat this level on Normal difficulty, and I'm an extremely experienced Wesnoth player. "Humans have mostly ranged weapons, aliens have mostly melee" is conceptually interesting, along with the easy "zombification" of enemy forces. However, the humans simply have too many swarms of units. I do not have any units tough enough to withstand all the damage they do, so I try to rely on hordes of cheap units to distract the forces and give me time to re-zombify more forces out of the soft enemy units. Sometimes the battle almost seems to swing my way, but there are so many enemies, that they always pull my battle lines out of position. Since they are mostly level 0 units I can't plug the holes in the lines. Usually they get through and kill some unit I wasn't supposed to lose. Then there's a bug, where if you get someone killed, 3 of your 4 "Food" units that you're supposed to get to the exit simply disappear. Seemingly they cannot be saved; in any saved game, only 1 "Food" unit will be present when loaded. So a defeat means you have to start the whole thing over. I've done it for a day now, and I'd say the level is close to unwinnable. Random luck might turn the tide of battle to something winnable, but the last time that happened, just when I thought I might pull this off, someone snuck through a hole and killed someone I had to keep alive.

I discovered that Scouts are good for taking out those guys with energy maces, and that anti-tank weapons supported by healers are good for repelling an initial assault. However, I still get overwhelmed by the human units.
To Lands Unknown, an Arabesque adventure of stunning background art, mobile summoning, and strong storytelling.

Just pointing out some balance issues: Terradorian Grenadiers are pretty good anti tank units, but their level ups are much worse: They have a -50% pierce weakness. The lvl 1's have 50% pierce resistance. Also alot of maximum level units level into themselves, like the xylash omega hivelord.

Xylash grubs don't gain any hp when they level up, and 23 hp is already very low for a lvl 1.

There's no reason at all to level a battleship into an antitank destroyer, it does 10-4 fire damage while the battleship does 12-5 and has a melee attack.

Terradorian recon jets have leadership when they have no reason to, and lose leadership when they level.

Xylash quickbred and sporehealers level up into Terradorian light fighters.
