Ability to move after attacking

For skirmisher,... unlike what it is now... more appropiate would be ability to move after a fight I have thought about such a trait, and think that it might be an interesting one to have in the game, but I do not think it should replace the current skirmisher ability. Therefore, it needs a differe...

Yes, it's hard, but...

My complaint with Test of the Clan is not its difficulty. The difficulty is warranted, because this scenario comes very near the end of a major campaign. My complaint with Test of the Clan is that it is lengthy and tedious and makes an excellent test case for why Wesnoth needs some interface options...

You only need to recruit one round.

Get everyone out of your castle except the leader, and do all of your recruiting the first turn, including two or maybe three Gryphon Riders (or Masters if you've got 'em) and a Shyde; fill the rest of the first round of recruiting with your best ranged attacks, probably Avengers or Arch/Great Mages...

Of course I'm always going to try to get the dwarves on open fields! Or water, or swamp. Although, without Mermen or Nagas you'll want to position your own units on the banks as much as possible, which can be tricky. just not a good idea to fight dwarves on the mountains. Gryphons can do this. Thei...

TROW: Dragon: overall, gold, and the decision

Okay, I'm playing the Rise of Wesnoth through on the medium difficulty setting, and I've come to a scenario wherein I'm not sure about my overall strategy. It's the dragon of the marsh. (I've already done the other three quests.) Obviously, I'm going to hold back and deal with the first wave or so o...

Re: Using Leaders to Fight

Delfador - he's good for finishing people off, This is over the long term a poor strategy. Delfador is already level 4; he can't level up any further. Consequently, it's better to use him to *weaken* enemy units, and then let other units take the kill and gain the XP. I do *occasionally* use Delfad...

Glass Cannons

Doc Paterson wrote:Glass cannons. What a lovely mixed metaphor.
It makes sense, if you think about it. Cannons are useful for attacking, but weak on defense; glass ones, doubly so. On a semi-related note, I do find goblin spearmen to have value against mounted units.

Anyway I was doing really well or at least I thought I was until, I got to the Princess's Revenage. I have a Lancer, Paladin, Knight, Couple level 3 Rangers a Socceress, white mage, red mage and 365 in cash. I just get swamped everytime. Am I missing something. Yes. Move. The only enemy with very d...

Scepter of Fire scenario

I was getting frustrated with the Scepter of Fire level. You neadn`t to build up cash in this level, because for next one 100 gold will be enough. Agreed. IMO, the Sceptre of Fire is a scenario where you can afford to recruit as many units as you can and let your gold go as far into the red as it w...

Levelling up enough units.

Consider if you've levelled up enough units/carried enough gold over from previous scenarios. This one is very hard to overemphasize. If you are having trouble with a scenario, go systematically through the list of types of units you can recruit, and see what each of them can become if it levels up...

Re: Hardcore or save/reload ?
Do people generally save / reload, or do they play hardcore (if a good unit dies, thats just too bad)
Generally if I reload/replay, I make significant changes to my approach. (If I'm only going back a few turns, this is usually tactical; if I need to make str...

Unfortunately, even if you can kill one of the 3 leaders in Valley of Death, you don't have enough time to kill them all :( (the south is the hardest to kill, the mountain make him defending very well) Are you kidding? I killed the south leader on the second or third turn, with two units. He steppe...

Getting enough experienced units through Anduin

Okay, I'm fairly new to the game, and I'm having a hard time evaluating my playing level. I'm playing the Heir to the Throne campaign, and the first time through, when I got to the third level (Anduin), at first it was like a brick wall -- I was getting totally overwhelmed. So I stepped back and ana...
