Re: Compile Fail: Wesnoth with Boost 1.76.00

Boost has always been a little bit annoying. For wesnoth I try to not use the latest boost usually as wesnoth didn't like the most recent boost versions in the past. :P > That would be pretty strange, seeing as on Boost's site they don't list iostreams as a library that changed in 1.76. Right but pe...

Re: Cities of the Frontier - now for BfW 1.11

But bats prefer caves!!!

Animal centric campaigns would be quite a lot of fun.

Re: How do humans sound to saurians?

I would assume they would be "optimised" to their own voice range, so perhaps humans sound in a more deeper tone they can not easily hear (if we assume their hissy noises is in a higher pitch; in reallife we can not hear tons of sound, e. g. whale and other frequencies unless we use techni...

Re: Where do Add-Ons save?

This seems to come up again and again. Perhaps there could be some info-widget within the preferences option to show where things are stored?

Re: Asheviere's Shadow--Dunefolk Campaign, 1.1 version on 1.16 servers

I love all dune/desert style campaigns in general. Tagging this thread here mostly so that I can have a look at it at a later time - right now I am making a little wesnoth break (I do this usually... in some weeks I may play more again).

Re: How I play

Passive XP may be interesting. I think if I were to design a campaign, I'd use different village types though, so e. g. a village with a library, if a unit is on it at the beginning of a turn, it would get +1XP for learning from books. (OK ok goblins learning from books is not that epic but we can s...

Re: To Lands Unknown - 3.2 Beta - now on GitHub!

It's still my favourite campaign of all times. There are many other good ones too, like the one with the wyverns as units (I keep on forgetting the name) ... but To Lands Unknown really is in another league. Would be nice if one day, in a future, we could have some "fancy" wesnoth that wou...

Re: The Demon Of Our Ourselves - FINAL [Wesnoth 1.14.15]

That reminds me ... the unit that turns to stone during daylight. I think it cripples him too much. Perhaps turn him into stoneform but still allow him to attack? But with fewer attacks and less damage. Losing all attacks during day is IMO making the unit too bad right now. The idea is a fun idea so...

Re: The Demon Of Our Ourselves - FINAL [Wesnoth 1.14.15]

I am playing it right now; looks quite nice. Some of the abilities seem a bit strong (+5 movement in particular) but this is minor. I am in one campaign though where I have to defend a cave or ice pass or something. An orcish unit sneaked past and killed a civilian inside and I lost. Would it be pos...

Re: How to win "The Eastern Invasion" campaign?

Oddly enough I like shock troopers. I only hate their movement ... I'd wish they would be faster on high levels.

Mages are great; only a bit squishy so I tend to surround my white mages with fodder units that then get healed up.

Re: Random Campaign - feasibility?

> can call the random map generator Isn't the map simply an ASCII file? If so you could probably generate it as-is via ruby, python or lua and probably add some more variables to determine how populated it may be. Perhaps Wesnoth even comes with such tools integrated? Would make sense IMO; people co...

Re: Idea New Concept Gaming

There are a few add-ons that deal with weather effects and so forth. Some of them are a bit laggy and I am not certain whether the "net gains" of weather effects are that worthwhile in general. But some campaign designers obviously like playing with effects. :D As for the AI - I guess in t...

Glad you already got an answer. I constantly forget the names of addons ... wish there would be simpler
means to help people remember. :D

Like query the interface via more queries like "has unique abilities: yes/no" and such.

Re: [Interface] Option to turn off texture filtering in help menu

Would be nice as additional option and a tooltip explaining the differences briefly. Then people can decide which variant they would prefer.
