Re: The game doesn't start

There were 6 different translation strings in the file containing a \v (out of several thousand translations). It wasn't all 6 \v in one place.

Re: The game doesn't start

The occurrences of \v are in the translated strings, not the original strings, so they're not from wmlgettext. Presumably they were added when editing the file with Poedit. According to https://github.com/vslavik/poedit/issues/637 "You can get the '\v' character if you press shift and enter sim...

Re: Bad Moon Rising co-op?

I don't want to sound discouraging, but - Bad Moon Rising is a pretty large, complex campaign, and converting it to multiplayer would be quite a big project, especially for someone just learning the basics of developing add-ons. I would suggest starting with something simpler. Note that there is a W...

Re: A New Order.

It's just you actually. :D SoW is by far younger than ANO and there have never been any attempts to reconcilate the timelines of these two campaigns, or to fit ANO into the Dragon War canon. Well, the narrator in Soldier of Wesnoth mentions the Akladians, so it must have been intended to be part of...

Re: The game doesn't start

I think the issue is triggered by the \v escape sequences in the translations. (There are 6 of these in the file.)

Re: The game doesn't start

Did you try your idea of zipping it? I would think a .zip file would be a lot smaller.

Note that "20200122" seems to imply that this is a very old error message.

HenryY2020 wrote: June 9th, 2021, 1:50 pm Is it just me or is A New Order basically the sequel to Soldier of Wesnoth?
I think it would be more accurate to say that Soldier of Wesnoth is a prequel to A New Order.

(A New Order was released in 2005, while Soldier of Wesnoth was written later, in 2013.)

It looks like the campaign might have case sensitivity issues. Are you playing on Linux?

Re: Help menu doesn't work

The translation sometimes uses text='Battle for Wesnoth' and sometimes Battle for Wesnoth Perhaps a stupid question, but which of those is malformed? I'd normally assume the first one, but a search for text= returns over 12000 results in various translation...

Re: Help menu doesn't work

I'm not sure if this is the issue, but in the Italian translation, the help markup looks malformed.

The translation sometimes uses

Code: Select all

text='Battle for Wesnoth'
and sometimes

Code: Select all

Battle for Wesnoth

Re: How do the translation files actually work?

I presume too that the # [attack] and such lines are also mere comments and that the only "active" elements of .po files are the msgid and msgstr lines? Any line beginning with the # character is only a comment - it will not affect the actual translation. I was in terror that each time I ...

To visualize the fuel, you could add another bar alongside the unit, as seen in the add-on A Magicians Tale:

I'm not very familiar with programming in Python, so I'm not sure exactly what needs to be changed, but the basic idea is to do something like this: --- data/tools/wesnoth/wmlparser3.py +++ data/tools/wesnoth/wmlparser3.py @@ -448,7 +448,7 @@ class Parser: self.in_arrows = False self.temp_string += ...

Re: very slow wesnoth_addon_manager

I suspect that the problem is that wesnoth_addon_manager is written in Python, which is abominably slow Actually, upon further investigation, I think that the problem is that the parser uses bytes objects everywhere, which causes the parse time to increase quadratically with respect to add-on size....
