Can you make ctrl work?

This is driving me crazy that in Wesnoth if I want to delete the word "disambiguation" I need to press backspace 14 times instead of ctrl+backspace once... And if I want to move navigation caret before that word I need to to press left arrow 14 times instead of ctrl+left arrow once...

That's ridiculous

Ctrl+a and ctrl+e work.
