Wesnoth 0.9.7

Post by isaac »

Wesnoth 0.9.7 is out!

This has been a really quick release, its main purpose is to fix some annoying and important bugs in networking, and get them tested by users. It also contains less important bugfixes.

Because of the string freeze, several languages have reached 100% in the official packages for the first time: Catalan, Czech, Russian, Italian and Hungarian. French, Swedish, German, British English and Dutch are complete again, too.

You can check details at http://changelog.wesnoth.org.

Downloads:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... z?download
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... 5?download

You can get the xdelta from the 0.9.6 source to 0.9.7 here:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... a?download
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... 5?download

Check http://www.wesnoth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7034 for info on using xdelta.

As a fallback you can also get files from
http://files.wesnoth.org/ - you should first try to get files
through SourceForge to help us save bandwidth.

server.wesnoth.org will soon be running 0.9.7 and can be used for multiplayer games.

Instructions for bug reporting can be found -
http://wesnoth.slack.it/?ReportingBugs

MacOS X, Debian, Mandrakelinux, Windows and BeOS packagers have been informed.

Another MacOSX version is up at:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... g?download

Let's spoil them for choice this time... after all they deserve it for the occasional long waits :D

[edited to take into account Scott's fast error pointing!]

Well... I just make images in the hope the bugs I fix and improvments I've made will be backported.

PS: you forgot to bump the editor version number into the map editor's Info.plist.

Iwa's avatar makes me hungry.....

anyway, I think you should actually tell users which bugs were fixed, and by that I mean like "the bug that randomly closed the game was fixed" or something. Ive refused to read anyting combing errors and numbers ever since making an attempt when my crapy 98se operating ystem crashed once.
just thinking about it is frustrating.
Oh no look out its a ray gun.
You should move to avoid the rays
the rays are coming out of the gun
if you are hit by the rays
you will be shot by the rays
the rays are fast so you should be fast to
can you win against the fast rays from the gun?

I hoped to find xdelta instructions, but I feel forced to google.

And BTW why not post gcc version on precompiled linux packages?

They are too many to be listed here each time. It's from spelling mistakes to terrible post install routine passing by non working menus, poor compression ratio, unusable build project, etc. The listing is somewhere in the package. No crash fix because the game don't crash.

It definitely works for me -- I did a full download and install and it worked. Perhaps try downloading again? File size of the download should be 39999130 bytes (and md5 sum is 5965b6c0b8c86586f0a6d56012a4c072 if that helps).

Please put links to xdelta tutorials on downloads page. xdelta manual is very hard to understand. Or, even better, include patching shell script for xdelta.

I do not have .tar.gz of v0.9.6 I have it in another archieve format (7z recompressed) Is it still possible to xdelta it without re-downloading?
