Wesnoth 0.9.5

Post by isaac »

Wesnoth 0.9.5 is out!

This release is an additional step towards Wesnoth 1.0 and mainly
contains bugfixes in both campaigns and multiplayer code. It also
features some user interface improvements.

In addition, some new images and portraits have been added, a new unit has
found its way into the Drake lines and there has been some unit balancement.
Lots of units have also brand new improved descriptions.

You can check details at http://changelog.wesnoth.org.

On other news, this release marks an important milestone for translators.
We are now in a string freeze, this means that no new translatable string will
be added to the game until Wesnoth 1.0 is out. This way translators can work
thoroughly to have their translations completed in time (the deadline will be
approximately September 1st). Please, help your translation teams reach 100%
for this important release. Translating Wesnoth into your language is a great
way to help Battle for Wesnoth for non-developers. You can see the details in
Ivanovic's post at:
http://www.wesnoth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6997

You can get the xdelta from the 0.9.4 source to 0.9.5 here (2.47MB):

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... 5?download

As a fallback you can also get files from
http://files.wesnoth.org/ - you should first try to get files
through SourceForge to help us save bandwidth.

server.wesnoth.org will soon be running 0.9.5 and can be used for multiplayer games.

Instructions for bug reporting can be found -
http://wesnoth.slack.it/?ReportingBugs

MacOS X, Debian, Mandrakelinux, Windows and BeOS packagers have been informed.

Enjoy it!

Debian packages are already available in Sid (as soon as they're distributed to the mirrors).

The mac version hasn't been created yet. The pre-compiled binary games are donated by community volunteers, and the person who usually does the mac version has been a little busy lately (I assume, or else why the wait, right?). If it takes too much longer, another community volunteer may attempt to build and donate a built version of 0.9.5.
Hope springs eternal.

You can try my version. I used the command line, so it will be a different experience than you're used to. Let me know if you want to give it a go.
