Wesnoth 0.9.3

Post by isaac »

Wesnoth 0.9.3 is out!

This release features lots of balancing changes, new graphics for units, terrains and villages, and two new units, the Orcish Slurbow and the Dark Sorceror.

As usual, there has been lots of bugfixes and translations have been updated.

You can check details at http://changelog.wesnoth.org.

Downloads:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... z?download
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... 5?download

Wesnoth-lite will be no longer provided as it's just being used by a very small number of people. To replace we will provide xdelta files to patch
the previous source tarball to the new one. That way users with low speed
lines can download the whole game once and get small updates for new releases. You can get it here (2.2Mb):

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... a?download
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... 5?download

Note that xdelta is available for both Unix-like systems and Windows.

As a fallback you can also get files from
http://files.wesnoth.org/ - you should first try to get files
through SourceForge to help us save bandwidth.

server.wesnoth.org will soon be running 0.9.3 and can be used for multiplayer games.

Instructions for bug reporting can be found -
http://wesnoth.slack.it/?ReportingBugs

Mandrakelinux, Mac OS X and BeOS packagers have been informed.

Debian and Windows packages are already built.

You can get Debian packages adding:

Code: Select all

deb http://people.debian.org/~isaac/upload/ ./
in your /etc/apt/sources.list. It will be included in Sid tonight. If you run amd64 you need fixed zipios packages to be able to run the game, you can find them in http://logrus.no-ip.org/.

Windows binaries are also available in Sourceforge:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... e?download

How come the download file is Wesnoth 0.9.2? It even says 0.9.2 in the Main Menu screen?

Funny, it did the same thing to me with version 0.9.2.
I speak what's on my mind.

Which is why nothing I say makes sense.

Because it is 0.9.2.

Mac version hasn't been compiled yet, and it shows the newest version on the downloads page... kinda misleading, though.

Xdelta files

Post by Insinuator »

Wow, I came on just in time; you just updated. I downloaded the xdelta files from the previous version (0.9.2) and then downloaded the Xdelta program, but my computer (Windows XP) doesn't recognize the Xdelta program, nor, needless to say, the file extension for the patch. This is an excellent way to continue updates, but I'm not sure what patching the previous source tarball means, or, for that matter, anything about Xdelta files.

Just to clarify things: ATM there is only a X-Delta patch for the sources, not for the Windows or the (not yet existing) Mac release. Maybe there will be such a patch in one or two days for the windows version.

Many of the user campaigns on the server are currently broken, please refer to the summary http://www.wesnoth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6463 for details (and if you are a campaign author, some pointers to what you need to do to fix the errors in your campaigns). This list is being updated continuously as campaigns are added or revised.

Hi, Insinuator. As Ivanovic said, the xdelta file was only for the sources, I will upload a xdelta file between Windows version in some minutes.
Erm, I've just destroyed my previous post :P

I've uploaded to sourceforge the xdelta between the Windows 0.9.2 and Windows 0.9.3 binaries.

You can get it here:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... a?download

To apply it you need XDelta for Windows:

So would we all. IIRWIIR, as in that Sithrandel isn't running a G6 and doesn't see the announcement instantly and sometimes has other things to do.
It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.

Or then he's wrestling with Xcode 2.x to get it to compile Wesnoth..
