1v1 Replays! (THE ARCHIVE)

Post by Doc Paterson »

Alright!

I can't do it by myself, so please-

Post up some good or amusing matches!

I'll try to get it going by posting some 1v1s I've saved. Most of these are me playing, but many aren't.

Remember, to watch these replays, just save them in your "saves" folder, which is under "userdata."

:)

Undead vs. Knalgans on a new map of mine that was being tested. The names are reversed; I was player 2.

A Drake v. Drake played on Charge during 9.1. It runs because neither player used Skirmishers (pointless in Drake v. Drake, but I believe Inquisitor suggested that he would win without Skirmishers against Big Burt's Northerners. Big Burt then suggested they see who the better Drake player was. Big Burt used Clashers and Tribalists; Inquisitor used Burners and Fighters ( :P ). Guess who won. Or rather, guess who quit. 8)

Undead vs. Northerners. The names are in the wrong order; I was player 2.

A random/random that ended up being Drakes vs. Elves on Divide and Conquer.

Northerners vs. Undead on Charge.

A funny glitch at the end of this one. In the actual game, the Clasher barely defeated the Ulfzerker. In the replay the Ulf wins (though it's fairly irrelevant.) Played on Divide and Conquer. The names are in the wrong order; Sciolist was player 1. http://mercury.walagata.com/w/paterson/ ... s_Sciolist

Drakes versus Adepts on Divide and Conquer.....Do the Adepts have what it takes? Gutsman is "Saurian Bibleist". 8)

A very good match that nevertheless illustrates the drag of Morituri. Almost all movement in this game is from village to village. Elves vs. Northerners. http://mercury.walagata.com/w/paterson/ ... c_Paterson

Sylma's return... :D

Yet another match on Divide and Conquer. It was random/random; ended up as Drakes vs. Elves. "The Bear Clan" is another "Saurian Bibleist" alias.

If I recall, this match is not suitable for children. :?

Cool, I've wanted something like this for a long time. I might be able to get Wesnoth replays hosting on http://www.challenge-tv.com which is a FPS demo super site if there really is demand. I've known the guy who runs it for like 7 yrs or something. In the future I think it'd be cool if replays have the map they are played on in their name. Sometimes I feel like watching certain maps and not others. Perhaps other information too, like rush, defensive game, or how many turns, etc.

Going to watch the Sylma game...

EDIT: was pretty good and show how strong level 0s still are.

Good idea; I'm going to do some gradual edits to provide additional info on a few of the above.

Also, unless noted otherwise, the first name listed is player one, the second, player 2.

good idea.
Just don't host that game that you and I played where you slaughtered me with your griphons..

I still argue that the map is not balanced, and the player 1 has an advantage from start..

Four replays on Lava Martyrs me vs saint. Three replays are under 10 turns and very rush oriented. The last game is 19 turns and pretty good. Only uploading it because of that game. ;)

That was actually not me. Though it was a close friend and ally. :)

I've known for some weeks now about the quick griffin problem- If you check the "multiplayer developement" thread, under "The New 9.2 Maps," you'll see that I posted a fix of the map; the upcoming 9.3 version. Also, I'm not sure if you were aware of some smaller subtleties that already existed; for example, the difference in terrain on the player two side that makes the central village reachable in one turn (with your average scout). I ended up missing the quick griffin problem because when I tested the map online, I only ever played as player 2, and didn't find it hard to win with any faction (luck, lack of experienced opponents, or a combination of the two, who knows-). We need to develepe a harder core of serious players to test new maps, because while I can catch many of the potential problems, my success rate is not perfect. 8) You're welcome to join the testing team if you like.

Also, Saint-

Help me out here! Post up some good replays.

:D

Just want to say that these replays are helping me a lot play better.. keep them coming.. I'd post some of mine but I don't know how (PM if you can help me post a replay?)..

I think it would be easier for me to watch replays if there was a pause or slow button. The pace is to fast for me to learn from, If i am to learn from the replay i would have to watch it several times..

But they are worth watching several times..

Thanks,

iKe

Most of the replays I've saved are because they were ridiculous in one way or another. Should I post them anyway?
It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.

Definitely. The archive wants Eli matches. :)

Important note about these: They all unzip to multiple files with different names. So, you are better off unzipping them to an empty directory if you want to find them.

The last of the replays I could find. Also, see the above note.

Also, I need to play more and I need to get back in practice. I haven't played Wesnoth at all for weeks, except maybe a couple games on Tactics Island...

You can expect more replays. :) Of course, if you prefer, you can also expect me to never get around to it. :|

Well in order to facilitate this, I have upgraded to v0.9.2 and therefore can't play Wesnoth at all.

Here is a great replay.

It took off with drakes lossing. The mid game ends up being a slight back and forth stand still after drakes make a very important move.

After that the loyalist player makes a very bad mistake.
The end is so close you can't tell who is going to win.
I give this one a 5 out of 5 stars..

Cool match, very fun to watch. I was really surprised when that guy gave himself a swordsman instead of a javelineer....struck me as a birdbrained play, what with Drakes resisting blade and being weak to pierce. :P Maybe he just didn't know.....he did say he was a newer player. The "big mistake" you refer to would be him taking his leader almost all the way to your keep? :D What a ruckuss.

So Pillager- We can't really watch your matches on 9.2, can we? :P

(I gave it a try, nevertheless.)
