Wesnoth 0.9.1

Post by isaac »

Wesnoth 0.9.1, the bugfix release, is out!

The main target for this release was to deal with some nasty bugs introduced in 0.9.0, like the broken Dark_Adept, and we've closed lots of other bugs in the way.

Besides bugfixing, the most important change are the new forest tiles.

As always, some units have been balanced, we've got a new translation in progress (Turkish) and lots of translation updates.

You can check details at http://changelog.wesnoth.org.

Downloads:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... z?download
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... 5?download

Wesnoth-lite should be fully working Wesnoth, it just lacks music and story
images (making it smaller and therefore faster to download):

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... z?download
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... 5?download

As a fallback you can also get files from
http://files.wesnoth.org/ - you should first try to get files
through SourceForge to help us save bandwidth.

server.wesnoth.org will soon be running 0.9.1 and can be used for multiplayer games.

Instructions for bug reporting can be found -
http://wesnoth.slack.it/?ReportingBugs

Debian GNU/Linux, Mandrakelinux, Mac OS X, BeOS and Microsoft Windows
packagers have been informed.

Packagers are doing a great work to have them as soon as possible and will upload the packages for your favourite OS when they're ready. Don't post in this thread asking for them.

The MacOSX version has been uploaded to Sourceforge:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... g?download

Please note it will take time to propagate to the mirrors

I'd be grateful if 10.2.8 users could try the help and let me know if that bug has been fixed.

Also some of the editor issues should now be resolved (e.g. All Assassins!).

FWIW I checked how big a patch would be and it was half the size of the final release, so not really worth trying.

I've just compiled 0.9.1 for Windows (using MinGW GCC) and uploaded the files to SourceForge:

Setup EXE: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/smoo ... e?download
Or Zip package: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/smoo ... p?download

Please note that this is not an official build by the Wesnoth developers. I built this package for myself and publish it for your convenience until there is an official Windows build. So you probably shouldn't bug the Wesnoth devs if you experience any problems with this build.

@Wesnoth developers: If you want to link this files on the Downloads page, feel free to do so!

Greetings,

Wesnoth for Windows: http://www.wesnoth.org/files/wesnoth-windows-0.9.1.exe

I would appreciate it if someone could find time to update the website and upload to Sourceforge.

Thanks again to Sithrandel for getting the OS X package up so fast. I don't remember it ever being avbailable BEFORE the windows package. That's really a nice thing to do Sithrandel, we mac users really appreciate it.

And, by the way Sithrandel, your avatar is very cool. By far the prettiest avatar on the forums. :-) I bet you could make some beautiful artwork for the Elvish Shyde.

Yes, that's what I meant: you got it right; I messed it up. I have corrected my original post.

Missing translations on Windows

Post by silene »

For those of you who suffer from Windows, who don't mind the low starting latency, who don't want to build it, and who would like to play in Afrikaans, Estonian, Japanese, Turkish, or Chinese, here is a completely untested archive. It contains the languages missing from the 0.9.1 build made by Dave; just unzip its content in your translations directory.

There is now a new version for MacOSX users. This incorporates the patch to allow 10.2.8 users to run the game. The full version can be found at:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... g?download

There is also a patch, if you already have 0.9.1 on your system:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... g?download

Please note there are no gameplay differences and hence the version of the splash screen still reads 0.9.1. You can check the version you are running by doing a Get Info in the Finder. If, however, it is running, then you don't need this patch.
