Intentional. It's a parody of the final battle of HTTT, and can be read as a parody of epic Wesnoth battles in general.Akkarin345 wrote:Although i found this camapaign funny, at the Ashievre scenario i thought that was well over done.
Yeah, that is an issue. My gut feeling is that I should shrink the map but your suggestion is a lot funnier. In fact, I think on about turn 12 he says "Screw this level, I'm using debug mode!" and you skip the level outright.Akkarin345 wrote:Also then there was a massive forest then desert map. I got board and quit, it was funny yes but as noted before funny last for a few seconds, trapsing over a map like that is awful. Maybe half way across Gwiti says screw this and tellports everyon to the enemy keep?
Ref the horribly designed scenario: I'm more of the feeling that Gwiti should tell the player how to skip the scenario in debug mode after the third landmine.

Well, republished, and effectively removed "Through Space and Time" entirely. Gwiti skips it on turn 2 then made a token effort towards rebalancing "Securing Assistance" accordingly. All totally untested and highly dangerous, because I'm tired and I was working on a less ridiculous campaign today as well.

Hmm... that might not be a good solution as a player, who judges the map at the first glance, might have quit playing your campaign and never touches it again because the map looked so boring...Orcish Shyde wrote:Yeah, that is an issue. I have couple of options:
- make the map again from stratch (= wasted work)
- give player a tip in the starting dialog that scenario might end straight away (best imo)
- skip the level at the start of the scenario
- Main character complains every turn till turn 12 (good also)

He currently skips it at the end of turn 1. Actually, come to think of it, I oughta change even that to avoid players judging by the map. Maybe I'll rethink and shrink the map... maybe.Jequ wrote:Hmm... that might not be a good solution as a player, who judges the map at the first glance, might have quit playing your campaign and never touches it again because the map looked so boring...Orcish Shyde wrote:Yeah, that is an issue. When I played that map first time. I stopped playing it at the start of turn 1Orcish Shyde wrote:He currently skips it at the end of turn 1. Actually, come to think of it, I oughta change even that to avoid players judging by the map. Maybe I'll rethink and shrink the map... maybe.

OK, I've changed it so it's just dialogue. Waste of a lot of work, but better to have wasted work than have a bad level drag the campaign down.

The arbitrarily numbered 0.3.0 is out, adding Gwiti's epic battle with Mal Festo and the made-up Death Knight Mal Capone!
Also, "The Volk Family Reunion" was rebalanced a bit. Admittedly right now it's such that a triangle executed Swagen Volk, but I'd rather that than impossibility.

After somewhat too long (as in, I finished a whole entire campaign and started a third before restarting work on this) SCE v0.3.9001 is on the add-on server.
Changes:
- New graphics for Triangles
- New units "Square" and "Hexagon"
- Combat scenario 7 now exists, in which you actually meet Mal Keshar in battle. Currently it's balanced about how I want it to be (i.e. both sides lose a unit or two every turn, and I was barely able to pull it off even with the bonus gold from Mal Capone).

I, for one, can't believe you're not including the infamous undead doctor Mal Practice!

Re: Intentionally silly campaign: Shameless Crossover Excuse
By the way, does this "Mal" in many necromancers' name mean anything?
After far too long an absence, I have returned.
According to the quiz 100% Silver Mage (85% Archmage, 75% Shyde, 67% Flameheart and Ancient Wose,58% Assassin, Troll Warrior and Berserker). And my top score is exactly how I see myself.

Re: Intentionally silly campaign: Shameless Crossover Excuse
I believe that it comes from the "mal" prefix in Latin (?), meaning "bad", which has been borrowed into the English language in several words (EG "maledict").
In other words, it's just a way of making them sound a little more evil or unsavory

Re: Intentionally silly campaign: Shameless Crossover Excuse
I don't know it as a prefix in Latin, but "malus"=bad. (opposite: bonus !)
It makes more sense now.
