Wesnoth (unofficial) challenge: Easter Eggs

Post by benj »

Happy Easter everyone !

have you ever wondered how difficult is the task of the Easter Rabbit, filling nests with chocolate eggs around the world ? No, of course. ;-)

Here is a small challenge that features the Easter Rabbit, grappling with a bunch of trolls, very decided to taste jugged hare soon ! If you ever wanted to play a cute little rabbit, this challenge is for you. :-D

To install this scenario :

- go to whatever path wesnoth is installed (i.e. /usr/share/games/wesnoth)
- unpack the zip file (under UNIX, be sure permissions are correct);
- run wesnoth, start a new campaign and select the Easter Egg campaign ;
- enjoy. :-)

We would be very happy if people share their replays to see how they proceed.

done!

it was pretty fun, i was playing on easy (thats what the first choice was, right?) and i never got into combat with the enemy. i won on my first try. all in all, it was a nice level just to play for fun. (the burrows were really cool).

Am I allowed to participate as well? :)

"Jack Rabbit" level, 23 turns.

My Easter Rabbit fought one time, because
1/ rabbits just love playing with fire, especially fire under the fry-pan
2/ trolls are no match for a mighty rabbit in his forest
;)

i've tried to adapt this campaign installation tree to the standard which could be seen here.
it would work only with a "user install" ($HOME/.wesnoth/data/campaigns) because i don't know how to adapt the map path in the scenario file, in order to make it ok for both path (user directory and system directory).
if you want to perform a system install you just have to change the line 23 in Easter_Eggs.cfg :
map_data="{~campaigns/Easter_Eggs/maps/{NAME}}"
should be changed into
map_data="{campaigns/Easter_Eggs/maps/{NAME}}"

Unfortunately, one year later this campaign does not seem to be linked from anywhere. So I've uploaded to my website the copy I still had - enjoy it from http://ydirson.free.fr/soft/wesnoth/oth ... gs-1.0.zip

Yay! I was wondering if anyone still had a copy... IIRC the original version was an attachment that was lost in the forum crash.

Based on yann's copy I've made some minor changes to bring this up to date with current CVS. This should work with 0.8.11 and possibly some earlier releases also. Unzip the file in your local Wesnoth data directory, where downloaded campaigns go. This is ~/.wesnoth/data/campaigns/ on Unix. On Mac OS X, it probably goes into ~/Library/Preferences/Wesnoth/data/campaigns/ or ~/Library/Preferences/Wesnoth/user-scenario-backup/ or try dragging both the .cfg file and the folder onto the application. Sorry, I don't know where this goes on Windows.

Benj -- perhaps you could upload this to the campaign server?

Don't worry about it; I'm going to have Dacyn bundle it with the halloween campaign and release it as a holiday scenario pack...
