Re: Art for Legend of Wesmere: Young Delfador

Post by thespaceinvader »

I like the pose, and the face, but i feel that the skin colour is a little greyish considering that he's a healthy, earl-middle-aged man. I don't really go for the shiny nose, either.

The patterning on the costume is OUTSTANDING, but i think that the belt looks a little odd without the buckle in the middle - i know that's a minor detail, but meh.

Great work.

The highlights on his forehead look a little strange now, though... The general colour's better.

I wonder, though, if some overt showing of his magical-itude-liness is appropriate.

Very nice. Maybe it's just my impression, but he seems more mature and confident than I had envisaged him. He does not seem to have too many worries and the look of
"how on earth do I get to make it on time". "how do I get to stop Iliah-Malal and save the King"?
It is a great mature Delf picture though.

I kinda thought that too; mostly due to the screenname, which in english-speaking countries is purely female (megan).

:lol2: Ahh, Intarwebs.

Pretty darn close to how I imagined him. Also - ridiculously good.

I feel I may have chosen my username... poorly. :geek:

Delfador looks amazing; he appears to be giving me the "yo', sup" nod. One thing, though -- his waist looks a little wide, like the (our) left side of the belt should end about 10 px closer in to the middle. :hmm: Maybe.

That Delf is absolutely outstanding.

He's got an aura.

I think this portrait is too good to pass. I think it should be used for the scenaria in DM after he has won the King's trust, studied Crelanu's book and is confident he can beat Iliah-Malal. Then the cocky attitude and official looking wardrobe would be excellently suited.

A fantastic Delfador! The cape is extravagant, who wouldn't want a similar? However, one thing strike me as more strange the more I look at it (even though my anatomein sense have failed me before, please disregard this as noice if it is only me).
To me it looks like the line where his left elbow disappears into the cloak does not connect properly to his shoulder?
Maybe his elbow should be a little bit more to our right?

Great Work Kitty, with the elves portraits as well as with those LoW ones!

EDIT: YAY, my 100th post, in only a slight above 2 years, by 2030 I'll have a 1000!
On topic: Yes, the shading in the post below made wonders, also, his rather muscular lower arm now is attached to an equally muscular upper - making him look less like Popeye :-)

hello again - i did a few minor changes according to some of your suggestions and scaled it down to final size...

@ spaceinvader: i changed nothing on the light on the forehead - it looks ok to me. and concerning the pose - "appropriate" is a variable word. but i'm pretty sure that magicans don't do magic all of the time. they should be allowed to rest sometimes :P

@ megane: good point - i made his waist a bit more slender on the left side.

@ gauteamus: i changed some of the shading on his left arm, i hope that fixes your impression.

@ santi: :? that's exactly the kind of situation i wanted to avoid when i asked you to describe detailed what you expect. you did not mention that you want him young and insecure - your only talked about his life as a continous race...
thus i'm sorry - but, no, you won't get a younger delfador. make a better description next time and we will get along well again.

I think it's just that the colour of the highlight is a bit overly white - it looks more like he's painted a line across his forehead than light hitting it IYSWIM.

I think I agree with you, WRT the rest. I just like shiny magic effects =D

This is an amazing Delfador; as I said before, you should be a fashion designer. It's one of the best portraits you have contributed so far.

Re: the forehead, it does look a bit 'klingony' to me in the large version. Like SI said, I think it's probably just because the shading is so stark.
