Do you mean 'chomps'? I noticed that, but thought it gave the animation character.Shadow wrote:Lovely the chops are perhaps a bit exaggerated but yeah really good.

Okay, as I said, I made an elvish shaman idling animation. Basically she takes some magic powder out of a little bag and blows it into the air, with a neat* little halo effect.
I didn't make a gif as GIMP kept screwing it up. I changed 'combine' to 'replace', but it just didn't do as I said it should. If anybody can tell me what I should do, that'd be great.
EDIT: I deleted the attachment. It was rather big, and I made a newer version, so I don't need to waste server space.

Tell us what are you exactly doing with more detail to try to catch the mistake.Urs wrote:I changed 'combine' to 'replace', but it just didn't do as I said it should. If anybody can tell me what I should do, that'd be great.
Is this like you want it to see?

Honestly, I'd go for far, far more motion of the body, even if it's subtle stuff, and only do the magical sparklies after the body of the unit is well animated. Otherwise you're putting the cart before the horse.Urs wrote:--I didn't really mean to double post here--
I took one really bad frame out of the animation, edited another, reorganized the halos, and learned how to replace frames (yay).
It's not that you need to do exaggerated motions, it's rather that you need to understand that the whole body is kinematically connected - a motion in the arms will cause the rest of the body to shift slightly to maintain balance. So even if the motions are slight, every part of the body will move.
OK, I gave it a try.Jetryl wrote: Honestly, I'd go for far, far more motion of the body, even if it's subtle stuff, and only do the magical sparklies after the body of the unit is well animated. Otherwise you're putting the cart before the horse.
I put in the halos so that it was clear what shes doing. She might just be taking out a tissue and blowing her nose. I made them halos so that they'd be easy to replace because they're just mock ups.
Also, I have no idea why her shadow does that in the middle of the animation.

I think her upper body should lean a little when she's bringing her hand up to her mouth. When you take a tissue up to blow your nose, don't you shift your head a little and bring your nose to the tissue, also? And when you blow, you bend over and stuff.
The same can be said here. She should lean a little when she's bringing her body to meet her hand. Don't forget to adjust her hips to compensate this shift in balance, too!

Is her skirt/robe made of cement?
It seems you have a little movement everywhere on the upper body, and since she's wearing a hanging garment (dress/robe type of thing), that should make it sway and fold differently with each movement, perhaps just slightly.
There have been of course starched or supported skirts in history, but I wouldn't think the shaman was wearing such a contraption...
