Art for BFW CD cover ?

Post by breversa »

Hello everyone,

I introduced my girlfriend to BFW some time ago and she likes it so much that she thought of offering the game as a present.

She told me "So the game is free to copy and distribute, right ? But is there any CD cover art for it ?"... and since I did not know the answer, I ask it here now. :)

Has someone made a CD cover for the game ?

PS to moderators :
I wasn't quite sure if I'd best post that here or in the art section, so feel free to move this topic accordingly.

There's no official or unofficial CD cover art that I know of; but it wouldn't be a bad idea. It wouldn't require any new art, probably, just some clever editing of what we currently have.

How about a background of the Wesnoth Map with the logo running along the top?

Ugh. An CD cover is you!
"Then I'd prefer you refer to it as 'The Midlands'"

If I'm supposed to fight creeping biggerism, then why is it a game feature?

It might be better to turn one of the Heir to the Throne storyboards into a CD cover.

Specifically, the one with the Prince fighting Delfador.

@ Darth Fool :
Wow, that's lovely ! Thanks ! ^^
And what about a CD cover to go along with this CD label ?

@ Kestenvarn :
Hum... I don't think taking a storyboard image would be a good idea : it isThe Battle for Wesnoth, and not only The heir to the throne.

Image

Couldn't rid myself of the mental image, so I did it. I originally had the main logo over the artwork, but the font was hard to read so I replaced it with something more legible.

I also like this one, although the king's head would probably be cut off by the cd hole: http://www.exong.net/forum/files/bfw_cdnohole03_146.png

Heir to the Throne is part of Wesnoth. A very, very large part.

PS. That map is also Heir to the Throne, and it doesn't scale well.

HTTT is ONE part of BFW. But BFW is so much more than that... However, that matter is being/has been discussed elsewhere.

It's used for many campaigns, not only HTTT (again). But what do you mean about the scale ?

Meaning that the image looks rather pixellated when enlarged in that manner. Except for the game's background logo, the watercolors don't share that problem.

Here is the matching cover art.

Of course, it may not show up in the actual printing.

Cool!
I was thinking of making a CD to give to my local library, but I didn't because it would look a bit amateurish. But now... :D

You're not being serious... are you?

Anyway, wasn't there an image floating around the forums somewhere which showed a bunch of running soldiers and riders. It was well done and I seem to remember the guy who did it saying it was intended for a CD cover.

Otherwise, Kest's suggestion looks cool.

By the way, what program are you using to print with?

The only way I could have it come out properly using the dimensions supplied
by Darth Fool was to import the picture into Quark, and my printer is busted
so it still came out screwy.

Sonic Express Labeller gives a good preview, but I haven't printed with it yet.

Otherwise, Avery Click'n'Design (free download on their website) usually gives rather decent results with their labels.

The only things that bothers me with DF's cover is that the portraits are cut (mostly) at the bottom.
