Is it possible to post older versions of the game to download, is a special archived page. I realize we don't normally want people downloading .3, but it would be really fun to look back and see how much it has changed.

The main problem is that we don't have space on the web server.

Each version is pretty dang big.

Perhaps a screenshot from each version?

Well our screenshots page has screenshots for every version going back to 0.4: http://www.wesnoth.org/sshots.htm -- and then some even older screenshots than that, although it doesn't have screenshots of the really ancient versions.

I have just uploaded some "ancient" screenshots: http://www.wesnoth.org/sshots.htm
Of course you are welcome to submit new (ancient or not) screenshots ;)

Wesnoth submitted to OpenCD project

Post by Clifton Hyatt »

Folks, great game! polished, playable, stable, great game!

I took the liberty of submitting to the OpenCD project.

Hope that's cool with everyone. This game definitely needs wide distribution.

Absolutely. We encourage users to submit to any sites they feel fit to submit to [1].

[1] Well, as long as the site will respect the game's licensing conditions etc, of course.

I suppose someone should smarten them up on the terminology, such as factions vs races?

There is a multitude of different races in Wesnoth, including Elves, Dwarfs, Orcs and Humans.
I believe they are actually correct here.

'Elves' are a race, whereas 'Rebels' is the faction in which they belong. The same applies for 'Dwarf' (Knalgan), 'Orc' (Northeners).

'Races' is fine in that context.

I do hope they get a new version of that screenshot of Delfador though. It looks soooo much more polished with Jetryl's version. :)
