updated. thanks for comments. notable changes include shortened final frame and changed right hand.
Image
I'm going to make him have right leg raised up a bit.

there are some problems.. It doesn't fit the 72x72 frame and if I move it to center it would look like slipping on something. It doesn't fit with the defense anim very well and I think the timing is a bit off.

EDIT: the way mage is holding the book seems rather odd, looks like he's just pushing it onto his body without actually grabbing it. that is pretty uncomfortable and very uncomfortable with a heavy book.
I'm going to look on the bookfall again after I finish the rest.

:eng: extend the image into all directions to a 100x100px canvas. the Wesnoth engine will keep the center where it belongs, you don't need to be restricted by 72x72
(A 258x816 image will also work, just remember to extend into all directions equally)

Looks great! Two minor things:

1) will you be shading it a little more? (it might not be noticeable in game, but repeated here in the forums his robe seems too flat).

2) it appears as if his head stops falling for a moment in the middle of the animation giving the impression that he knees himself in the head to knock it backwards again.

Super animation though! :D These are just minor things that would take it from an A- to a solid A!

Very nice. Though i'm pretty sure his hair is supposed to be brown.

Also, the book falls kinda unnaturally. It looks like it should bounce, move back towards the body and land spine up instead of how it currently falls. Though i guess that's just my opinion.

The book falls way too far from the body - he's throwing it, not dropping it. If he dropped it, it would end up spine up by his feet.

And yeah, it still needs significantly more shading. Good work though =)

Nice! Very smooth. I think the legs fall too slowly though. It looks like he is lowering them carefully.

In my opinion, that's better than most (maybe all) of the death animations currently in the game. You'll need to add shadows to the staff and the book before it's done though.

I cant be sure but it seems like the hair on the boy mage is still changing to blond at the end of the anamation.

The book and staff need shadows, and you need to make sure you're not cutting off their hands from the outside of the frame - you can expand the frame a little if you need to, as long as you expand it the same amount in all directions so the image stays centred.

Also, i think their backsides might need to be a little wider in the 'legs up' frame - they look a little thin.

I think that the legs go up a little too much. I would suggest that if you use this as a mage death animation that you specify it to dieing by an impact attack.
"There are two kinds of old men in the world. The kind who didn't go to war and who say that they should have lived fast died young and left a handsome corpse and the old men who did go to war and who say that there is no such thing as a handsome corpse."

The books pages seem to suddenly flip at the end (not sure if that's intended or not) which looks very strange. Otherwise very nice work :)

I believe this is a page of the book flipping to the next one, and not the book itself flipping. There is also a pixel missing out of the right cover of the book on the last frame.
