Shadows inconsistency

There is inconsistency with appearance of unit shadows in Wesnoth. Apparently the correct color for unit shadows is #160034 with 60% alpha.
However, a lot of the unit sprites are using whatever the artist thought deeming fit to be used as its shadow, most cases those being a bunch of black color pixels with opacity fading from inside to out. Sometimes its an color that is very near #160034 yet not exactly that.
This is creating an issue when animating certain units such as the nightgaunt become virtually impossible as its unclear to where its shadow begins and ends due to the sprite itself being almost fully consisting of semi-transparent pixels anyways(atleast when viewed in GIMP, the image editing software im using). Also it doesnt look good ingame if say Elves that are suffering under the black shadows and Orcish units that have correct shadow colors stand next to each other.
Shouldnt all sprites be using the same shadows ?

All new units are supposed to have that purplish shadow, but some older images still have that fading black shadow and it's a huge undertaking to make it consistent for all units.

Hmm, since only one person commented anyways:
if one(eg. me, probably) would go ahead and fix the shadows, probably one race at a time would they be included ?

We would definitely accept such a change! :) Shadows have always been one of those "yeah, we should eventually get around to this but never really do" issues.

And yes, #160034 at 60% is correct.
