Done
Thanks.
But I think you did not commit the images, at least not all of them. I checked with the package (bridge_refactor2), this should definitely not happen:

Sorry, I know I am a pest.

edit: I was wrong, all is well. Strange, SVN somehow broke my working copy.

Today I did another experiment. Actually I wanted to try a finer replacement of the stone bridge for use near elven castles. Somehow I ended with another hanging bridge. Now I am not sure I should pursue this further. For one, it may feel a bit too modern, wooden floor notwithstanding. Second the long bridge is actually a bit boring. :hmm:

Yes, please continue this! Really like it. :D Only thing I can add is maybe to give the floor a slightly more "used, rugged" look.

Status update. Endings have changed mostly so the one hex bridge does not suck. Floor has a faint touch of wobblyness now and the ropes are hopefully less boring.

I have always imagined that the elfes would use something like the Cherrapunji bridges.

But i am not seriusly suggesting that you try something like that ( I realise it would be a nightmare to try and get it right)

Looks pretty good! Only thing I can comment on is that I think it wouldn't have stones on the floor, but branches. Also assuming you know the ends are semi transparent.

Maybe the elven bridge could be more like this (assuming it would be used for rives in forests).

The bridge is pretty cool, but I'm not sold on it being an elvish one. An undead or swamp one, maybe, but elvish? I dunno. Their castles are all tall, elegant ivory towers, and their bridges would be murky greenish stones? Bah... The root bridge idea is cool for forests, but it still wouldn't serve the elvish castles well, imho.

The concept is interesting but I have problem with realising what is a material of this bridge. Is this some kind of mesh or skin sewn together?

Wanted to check how it looks in wood. Acceptable, I think.

About your comments:

You may be right that it does not fit for elves. But fact is I was not too happy with the other one either, maybe I will have to start over.
The material would be kind of lianes, supported by branches. That is not exactly the same as the cherrapunji bridges, which seem to consist of a kind of air roots, but of course concessions have to be made for arbitrarily long bridges and to keep the tree trunks small.

Or then elves may use same material on they bridges that what they use on their castles. That white stuff ( ivory? marble?).

This concept is very cool! I would love to see bridges like this in wesnoth maps.

The transition between the bridge and the ground (especially where it meets the dirt road) seems rather abrupt.
I'm also having a hard time reading the area where the support post goes into the water... it seems to end and be floating just above the water, not going down into the water. Though that may just be my eyes playing tricks on me from looking too hard at it...

Like I said I like the concept of this bridge. The only one thing I would enhance is shading on its pillars but that's speaking a guy who constantly uses too much contrast in his designs. I have an idea: what about making similar looking bridge for underground, made of spider webs and stone columns?

Hello,

next iteration: more foliage, more branches, more contrast. Too much contrast, maybe?
