Bushes
I made some bushes.
I know, there are a LOT of forest terrains, but there's not bushes yet. (at least I don't know that there would be)
Are they good enough to get in mainline? which bush is best? Do I continue making them?

Re: Bushes
I like the one on the right the most--The one on the left is too smoothly shaded, IMO.
Though, right now, they look sort of like what I would expect to see in a decorative shrubbery garden--They appear to have been pruned into shape
Obviously , it depends on what you're aiming for; if you're after the sort short, gnarled tree type of bush (Could be very cool if done right), having one trunk is good, but you also want to make it bend around a little, and have a less regular branch pattern.
If you're going for the very erratic weed-tree kind of bush, you want a lot of thin stalks with relatively few branches, and if you're going for the short, rounded bush look (Sort of like a Rhododendron) the "trunk" will probably be hidden by low-hanging branches.
Of course, it's up to you how you want to approach this--Some ideas:
Rhododendron
Weed-trees
Pagoda dogwood
Honeysuckle
Anyway, good work! Keep at it.

Re: Bushes
I meant them to be small, round bushes. Like, normal bushes, like in gardens.

>>like in gardens
Bushes in gardens have usually been pruned :/
As I said, though, up to you.

Re: Bushes
They appear to be much the same size as the trees. Smaller would be good.

Re: Bushes
The size is better, but you'd need to redraw them rather than scaling them down...

Re: Bushes
A bit, but compare the current size of the trees to the size of your bushes. You will have to draw them much, much smaller in order to make them convincing as bushes and not small trees. You could always use a tree in one of the terrain tiles and draw your bushes next to it to help show off by their size/shape that they are bushes. It could be another type of forest terrain. Or you could draw a few of them spaced out a in a tile to show them off as well. Putting them all next to each other does not help, as it makes them look like a tree.

Re: Bushes
The trunks are a little too large to be considered bushes; they look more like tiny trees.

Re: Bushes
I would suggest to try with no trunk at all, only the foliage put on the floor. Also had the same idea as Turuk : a tree in the same hex would help to make the difference (but maybe you don't want to mix vegetation on your terrain).
Edit : ok, actually Skizzaltix also suggested the "no trunk" bit, my post is kinda pointless

Don't trust me, I'm just average player.

I tried to follow those ideas. I think they look like alien brains...

Re: Bushes
The shading is very odd on them, as you noted they do not look like any sort of shrubbery at all. What is with the light color at the back?

The light color in the back is... hmm... I dunno, actually.
I tried to shade them betterly.

Re: Bushes
Hmm... I'm not entirely sure that you are shading it to look like bushes though. You have some lighter green spots that are placed randomly or swirled throughout... Are you using anything as a reference or just drawing what you think a bush looks like?
