Devs came up with some balancing formulae, but they keep it a secret the discussion on it died out a little. Rather the usual - constant shortage of artists for UMC, even less for mainline.
Oh we've had a nice little tournament to try out some maps. The result was that now I can brag all about that the hardest opponent in Wesnoth isn't the guy you play against, but the RNG

It's really entertaining and you can learn a lot there (depending on your level of expertise, of course). And you won't miss balance discussions, I promise.

Being an on/off again player, I took this advice and watched the most recent match last night and LMAO.
