A Question Concerning the Multiplayer Server

Post by sur.nhm »

Is it just me, or is the 1.9.4 (+svn) multiplayer server always empty?

Well... yeah.

Very few people have Wesnoth from SVN, and almost all of them are developers. They develop with it, not play.

So svn and non-svn use a different server? Whenever I go on the 1.9.3 mp serv I can access by default I always see a few people..few being the keyword, but still.

Yes there are four servers running I think: 1.6, 1.8, 1.9, and trunk.

So I'm the only person with SVN that plays rather than develops Wesnoth? Ah.

No, you aren't. But since there are only a few players online over the whole day, it's more interesting to play on 1.8.5 :P

or feel invited to play on 1.9.4 if you don't like crowds, still not many people there, but usually not completely empty (and you can meet and aid me or Velensk with our eras testing from time to time :))

Oh, I'd like to, but:
a) I am a so-so player,
and b) Gambit said that Trunk (SVN) and 1.9.4 have different servers. If you're using SVN as well, PM me and we'll try and find some time.

1.9.x are not stable. They are simply the released snapshots of trunk.

Using the very latest version of trunk is useful for spotting bugs early, so the more people who can do it, the better. That said, in the interests of having enough players to find a match when you want to, it's probably worth having a copy of either the latest stable or development version.
