Curses, I really wish I could have made good on my intentions to go this year. My whole year at university was banned from going due to the last year's lot leaving their groups a couple of days early and getting the worst grades in recorded history. I'll see if I can generate some interest for the Wesnoth team (if someone pops in and mentions someone called "Softly" then that'll be me they're talking about :oops:), other than that I hope you have a good time and I promise I'll make it next year.

Cloud: come net year. I'm going to be trying to persuade as many of the local art bods as possible to come - if we do manage to get a dev room, it would be great to have a broad range of experience, speakers and topics available. I've preliminarily, rather bravely, said I might speak on something artworky.

If you want to get Khalifate into mainline default I hope you intend to at least try them out in trunk first?
Yeah I am jeallous perhaps that it's not my faction getting such interest, but aside for the vastly superior art I did not find Khalifate any popular..in fact I don't even know what era are they in, nor did not see anyone using it at all..though perhaps I don't watch enough vs matches.

No, Kalifa(te) is ready and not only we won't test it in trunk, but we actually want to introduce it in a new 1.6 release first!

At FOSDEM we came up with advanced formulas for proving the balance of factions so we see little need to 'try them out'.

Also with our "retrograde introduction formula" we can easily introduce them into previous releases. If you have a 0.1 tarball still handy you should be able to play with the Khalifate in 0.1 -- complete with our "retrograde graphics algorithm" which will downgrade their art appropriately to match.
