old drake graphics package

Post by mystic x the unknown »

Package with the old drakes from v1.6 and earlier for people who still prefer them.
This thread is not for discussing drake graphics.

to install it, unzip the attached file into wesnoth's main directory ...(not the user's folder but where the 'sounds', 'images' , 'icons' etc. folders are located).
EDIT: it does not cause OOS ... Edit: as long as you download the correct package
Drake unit tree with old drake graphics

notes:
- uses old weapon names/attack icons
- any unit descriptions and portraits including wristblades/headbutt are replaced with the old ones
- death animations are kept but disabled
- any 'special notes' are removed

I apologize for causing emotional strain to certain people.

NOTE: package updated to version 1.12 attached in second post

NB: using the old weapon names WILL cause OOS errors with the relevant units. You should still be able to play, and they won't change the attack values etc, but it's something to be aware of.

Back to work. Current projects: Catching up on commits. Picking Meridia back up. Sprite animations, many and varied.

It will not cause OOS, the 'name' values are the same. changing the translatable 'description' values doesn't cause OOS.

Arg, although it'll help a lot of people, I think it'll continue to spoil them and they'll never learn to get used to the new ones, but oh well, don't get rid of it on my behalf, but I just wanted to share that.

This is what I love about Wesnoth. Got a complaint? You're allowed and encouraged to fix it! Personally, I prefer the new drake graphics, but well done mystic for putting the work in to solve your own complaint, and for sharing the results with others.

Yeah, me too. That's why I always use the Old Saurians XD

[WARNING, THIS NEXT PART MIGHT LEAD TO DISCUSSION!!!]

But, I think if the people want the old ones bad enough, they should be willing to put in some work to get it

Good work. Now, if someone complains, we have a place to point them. It's more supportive than saying, "You can fix it yourself."

Most people just want to play a game, not mess with the files. Besides, OOS errors would have been a possibility if someone didn't understand exactly what to do.

But, the new immage makes confusions, I need more observartion to see when a drake is a lv2 or lv3 in many times.... so I think better is the old, because you need to observe less to identify every unit :/
