Real fine a pity that I couldn't add something.
This girl, this boy, They were part of the land. What happens to the places we used to tend?
She's a hard one to trust, And he's a roving ghost. Will you come back, will you come back, Or leave me alone?

:? I'm not convinced Wesnoth is 1.0 quality yet, but I guess it's good to get it out... 1.2 will be better...

But, good job everyone on what we've done so far. :D

Actually my thoughts are now that Wesnoth was 1.0 quality a good year ago or so.

If you take any FLOSS project, there are always many things that one can suggest to improve. Trying to make 1.0 'perfect' is a big mistake -- one that we fell into, but managed to climb out of, though I think it hampered us alot.

The most obvious change is the new titlescreen, but other stuff was changed, too.
The titlescreen looks exactly the same to me...

The new titlescreen should be a map of Wesnoth with the new logo on it. You can see the logo in the release notes. Would be nice to know which version you are using, maybe someone made a mistake when creating the packet for the platform you are using.

That really is strange, because with the latest SVN I got the new background on my ibook. Maybe you did not install the files in a proper way? And since even the windows release has the updated image, I assume that the image is updated in the tarball, too.
You should have a look at the files you got in your SVN-dir. They should have been updated yesterday. That was when the new images were commited. Have a look at http://svn.gna.org/viewcvs/wesnoth?rev=8451&view=rev for the commit.
Did you compile it via commandline or via X-Code? If you did it via commandline make sure that the images were overwritten when you did make install.

Wesnoth is not going out on CD because:

1. CDs would cost not only the project money in the firstplace to make and distribute but also would also cost users to buy a free game.

2. Because unless we gave it out for free on CD it's against GPL i believe.

3. Because it's easier just to download off the internet.

4. Because it'd need it to have a CD for every different port unless they included a version for each on said CD which would then be unpratical.
