What's the Network for the IRC channel?

Post by Tyler Johnson »

Hey i'm pretty new with IRC, it's asking me for a network. I typed in irc.freenode.net but it's not connecting.

Well the list has like EFnet, Chatnet, so it's something 'net' isn't it?

EDIT: Hmm, i'm going to work on this a bit more and get it to work. There are 3 things here, there's a server, a network and a room, and I'm trying to figure out which one is which. Correct me if i'm wrong here:

Network : irc.wesnoth.org
Server : irc.wesnoth.net
Room : #wesnoth

C'est correct?

the server I use is irc.freenode.net

I don't know what is asking you for a network, what client are you using? I use IRC through my browser, Opera, but there is a firefox plugin too. that is simple, unless you want mIRC or something.

There are several rooms, you might check here.

The server is irc.freenode.net, you can also use irc.wesnoth.org but it redirects to freenode.

I don't know, does IRC not work on Mac? I just installed the Firefox plugin and it says "Connecting to freenode.net" and nothing is happening, after about 10 minutes I gave up. Hmm, I got IRC to work fine on my PC, I shouldn't be having this much trouble with it :?

This is what I'm seeing here, it's just doing nothing :

I use Colloquy on Mac.

irc.freenode.net (probably "net" instead of "org"?)

#wesnoth, etc.
Take a breath.

Nope, still can't connect to freenode even using Colloquy.

If you cannot connect to irc.freenode.net, then there's probably a firewall blocking your connections on your side.
