I am having the same problem on my gentoo linux system. The game segfaults when the recruitment in the tutorial mission one takes place. For more infos about this have a look at the irclog (http://wesnoth.debian.net/%23wesnoth-dev-2007-03-05.log) starting at 14:30 until 16:30. The problem does not exist in the development release 1.3.1.

Confirmed. Here http://stealth.math.uni.lodz.pl/~grzywacz/bt.txt is a complete backtrace of this crash. Compiled with g++ 4.1.2.

Yes.

still crashes... maybe I should start the tutorial again?
sorry, I'm new to all this debugging stuff... (wow... a game such as Battle for Wesnoth is actually teaching me something useful).
what's a backtrace and how do I generate one?

EDIT: starting the tutorial again does NOT help.
EDIT (AGAIN): creating a elvish fighter by debug does NOT crash.
EDIT (yes, again): Is this what you mean by backtrace? http://happyhrs.net/dar/wp-uploads//2007/03/bt.txt
EDIT (): Hmm... our backtraces look different.

I can confirm that the bug is not fixed, seems like Sapients try to fix it at the right place went wrong. The bug got narrowed down quite a bit though so it should be gone soon.

If you've never played Wesnoth before, I strongly recommend you to use 1.2 instead. Trunk will change rather often or be unstable.Eyra wrote:So can someone post here once a revision becomes available where this bug is fixed? meanwhile... I can't really go on with the tutorial... I think i'll just read the manual

On the other hand, it is nice to have people who are testing trunk.torangan wrote:If you've never played Wesnoth before, I strong recommend you to use 1.2 instead.
