Mac OS X Crashes immediately after launch

Post by bmann »

I'm running 10.2.6. I downloaded the .dmg binary, copied it to a local folder. Double-clicking the app causes it to launch, then exit immediatey.

The message in the console is:

Code: Select all

dyld: /Users/bmann/Applications/Battle of Wesnoth/BattleOfWesnoth-0.4.7.app/Contents/MacOS/BattlleOfWesnoth-0.4.7 can't open library: @executable_path/../Frameworks/SDL.framework/Versions/A/SDL (No such file or directory, errno = 2)
I also have a crash log that I can send if needed.

We don't support MacOSX version at all (this version was contributed by Sithrandir).
However, I think you only have a problem with SDL. Have you installed these libraries?

Installed SDL

Same problem. Obviously the path is hardcoded somewhere. If the person that contributed the binary would post some instructions, that would be nice.

I would be happy to help write the FAQ and test.

Mac OS X Version

Post by Sithrandel »

Hello,

try the version at this location:

http://www.fairydreams.co.uk/mac/wesnoth-latest.dmg

It is a more recent build and has the libs embedded. I think the problem was I added the development frameworks (installed in the User frameworks directory) rather than the ones in the general frameworks directory.

Will do another build. Tomorrow with the alternate framwork address. If you could give me feedback on the version above that would be good.

Thanks

It works fine for me (I was having problems with the other version as well.) The only bug I've seen is that it won't scroll down when you put the mouse at the bottom edge. (Something with the dock maybe?) Arrow keys work though.

Any chance of updating the one posted on the website?

Post by Sithrandel »

Hello,

I know only one feedback message is not a lot, but that one should work as the frameworks are embedded. I also played that version quite a bit and would prefer to test non-embedded before releasing.

So is there any chance that someone could upload that version:

http://www.fairydreams.co.uk/mac/wesnoth-latest.dmg

to the website so other visitors can get a version which should work? It isn't the latest anymore but a few days old ;-)

Thanks

OK... I've edited via Wiki, but how does this relate to the links on wesnoth.whitevine.net? I'm getting confused again :-S

We have to update the web page still. I have sent a message to ettin, the web master, asking him to do it.

At Wesnoth web-site we can simply direct users seeking binaries/packages/ports to WesnothBinaries.

Works great. Played up until Section 4.

Updated Links

Thanks everyone... now I just hope that Maccentral drives some traffic this way.

Once the CVS starts working I'll look into 0.4.8rc2 :-) but don't worry, no more uploads until the codebase for 0.4.8 is sorted :-)

As topic in #Wesnoth (irc.freenode.net) says "CVS anonymous access works again". CVS for project members (Savannah) has been working all the time.
