Another idea has made itself into my creative *coughcoughcough* mind. Maybe they could be kinda like elvish scouts, only slower and with less melee attack.

Well there is one! So someone else also thought it was a good idea, but it's just not official. Do a search for "horse archer".

If all you have to do to get it added in is change the graphics then do it! I love that unit!

wow this is nice, horse archer will definitly improve the game play well done Disto!

If anyone downloads the horse archer, add in it's cfg, advancefrom="Elvish+Scout"

what does everyone think about a "mounted archer" ? a human version sort of a bit weaker too...

its not "Elvish+Scout", its "Elvish Scout" that you need to put in the .cfg. ;)

If you added that you would probably need to remove the riders ranged attack, and make his melee a slightly stronger to balance it. If you didn't the two units would be too similar.

part of the racial identity of the Elves in Battle for Wesnoth is that they all have some kind of ranged attack, like almost all drakes have fire breath, and like the saurians all have skirmish, and like the trolls all have regeneration, and like the humans have disproportionately large heads.
