:| Not so sure I like these...
But give them a whirl (lousy pun ) and tell me if anything needs changing.

I think they look great in-game. Wesnoth shrinks the image down and the animation happens so fast that you only get a glimpse of three balls flying past, which is exactly what I wanted. Projectiles are an example of a set of animation images that don't have to be very detailed to look good.

Hokay, the defend frame(s).
Three alternatives, take your pick.

(Not sure how obvious this is to someone who didn't draw it, but the idea is he leans away from the blow while parrying with his sword/dirk. I also added in the 'sweat beads' because they seemed to be a standard elf thing. You can't see them on this transparent background.)

My first attempt, I think it looks too similar to the base image.

These look great. I love the sweat beads, they're a classic bit of Wesnoth humor.

Righto, a somewhat basic attack animation. Doesn't really need any explanation.

In your PM you mentioned something about a base image with closed eyes and sweat beads? I'm not sure if you wanted it or not, but here it is anyway. (It doesn't matter if you don't need it, only took 30 seconds.)

I think that makes the full set. Happy to be of service. :)

nice swoosh on the attack frame, but if you don't change his stance (ie move his feet)) it will look like he is skating across the terrain.

I'm confused. What do you mean about moving the feet? Do you mean he should lead forward as he swings? I looked at the Elvish Hero's slashing attack and he doesn't really move his feet when he swings.

look at the fighter, it is a better example. The hero animation probably should be improved.

about the defend frames

1) you should do defend animations if possible
2) you can put all three in as alternative, the engine will take a random one
