New Map! ~ Expansion (2v2)

Post by F8 Binds... »

The latest of my map creations... I present Expansion! The goal of the map was to have the two teams on separate islands, with combat occurring on the mainland. Simple as that. Basic settings, though possibly 75 gold. 1221.

To keep drakes from assassinating the other leaders on turn two, I managed to do it with 2 drake fighters and a flare leader, add in day and you should kill the enemy leader. Think about it- 11-3 (or 12-3) for each fighter under those conditions, add in the 9-4 ranged or 10-3 melee of the flare... and you get a very good chance to assassinate the other leader. 33+33+36= 102 possible damage, which can kill any level 2 in the entire game. Period. (Any comments, even if they just say "that's a cool map!" ? No comments suggests my map is so perfect it should go into mainline.)

its a very good map though the assasination on turn two may still be possible, (have not tested). You solved side one demolishing side two, but the shroud may need to be extended slightly by a hex or two to prevent one from killing three.(or two killing four)

overall good work. :)

edit: i was going to make another post after testing the above but my computer wont download the map :x
This would have something cool if i actually had anything intersting to say or write.

It is theoretically impossible for P1 to kill any other player on turn two, due to the fact that no units (other than quick gliders and gryphons) can reach any villages player 3 would take with his leader on turn 1. And quick gryphons are dead meat compared to the other units you've recruited, and one dying means the player lost a third of his starting gold. Sure, IT IS POSSIBLE, but what is the chance of getting two quick gryphons, let alone hit 4 times in 60% defense? Do the math yourself and figure out. You should get a really small number, perhaps less than 1%.

Revision, covering the following problems-
* Although drakes cannot assassinate the enemy leader early on, they still can get early advantage. Castle arrangements were made to compensate for it.
* All players with any leader can get to the secondary keep by turn 2. Villages were moved and added.
* Village stealing was a big problem in one of our testing games, and there weren't enough units to stop it. Therefore a settings change (75 starting gold -> 100) is now in place and some deep water was added to stop elusivefoots from stealing villages, though flying units can still attempt it.
* Other small changes were made, such as the adding of deep water around the shroud. These are not very noticeable however and you shan't notice them.

Version 2!
(again, cavewall= shroud)

My friend, Paperclip Boy... is crazy. Accept it, I deal with him almost every day. (In real life) Though that signature takes it to a new level...

Neat Concept! Though I still fear Drake's mobility would still unbalance the map.

I agree that this has drakeish holiday potential, and that certain factional matchups could be very rough. As the map is now, Drake/Undead would be very difficult for Undead, and Drake/Loy, Knalgan/Loy would be similarly tough for Loy. For the time being, I'd recommend giving water units a bit more access to/attack hexes on the villages.
