Big ole Map of Westeros:UPDATED

Post by Becephalus »

I have always intended to make a map of Westeros. It is a very large project though, so it took seeing an excellent attempt by new player Halcyon to get me moving. His map was more than a little bit out of scale (Westeros is 2.5 times longer than wide, he had it about 1.5 times longer). Also the map should try to be kept as small as possible so it is actually playable :)

Anyway so I cut it back from 65X61 to 60X30 (the way the hexes are numbered the horizontal dimesion covers 20% more distance than a vertical one). I can not promise all the starting sides are esquistely balanced, but on a situational map like this that is hardly the focus. It is for 6 players.

Winterfell
The Eyre
Casterly Rock
Kings Landing
Highgarden
Dorne

Anyway here it is and for god sake use 1 gp there are probably over 100 villages.

Well... it is vaguely recognizable. But only because I was told beforehand... have to give credit though, that is no easy map to make.

Getting the rivers in is quite hard especially considering they really are required given how important they are to the story. I could have made it much more recognizable and twice as large, but then it would play like complete %$^#

It is a map of a place in a book. It is just the right size.

This map looks great. The problem is it plays horrible in it's current state. I like the map too much to see it go to waste. Perhaps an MP scenario/campaign would work here.

Right now it's just not playable. But I don't want to see it go to waste.

Well me and a few other people were having fun, but it is too slow for jb. Apperantly he doesnt like 10 hour games. ;)

It is not. It is fair use as we are not trying to sell anything here. If we did try to include it in a product we were selling we would ned to get GRR Martins permission and/or James Sinclair.

Well the first large FFA game was quite fun. Lots of excitement! Here is a review. Clearly these 10 hour games are not for everyone, but they are highly rewarding with the right players.

See, my joking with Bec is funny and impersonal given me and him play every night. Making attacks calling me mentally ill is not very funny at all. Then again from what I've seen of your posting abilities, thats probably pretty normal for you.

Isn't it the second time the "Who is Bec" line is misread by someone?
That's part of what makes it funny, to me ;)
